Just picked up the 32Gb Sandisk Cruzer USB drive for £29.99 in Tesco Edinburgh (Broughton Street). Same type is £54.99 on Amazon.

Possibly nationwide as they had a few different types reduced but it may have been store specific.

IF (not likely, but mentioning it just in case) you are after this for ReadyBoosting Windows Vista/7 (presumably 64bit, as ideal ReadyBoost is apparently upto 4 times physical RAM) then I would CHECK that Sandisk specify it as suited - most of theirs aren't.

I got a Toshiba 16GB from 7dayshop for
MKD

None in Plymouth Roborough or Lee Mill

My local Morrisons also have the 4gb USB sticks for £5 back in stock too.

This was in Cardiff, the same type of USB stick as in the picture posted here.

Does any one know if any stores in London have any of these, my local doesn't seem to sell any flash drives at all?

I paid more for my 8GB, about a year or so ago, so this offer is hot. Thanks op.

These are Reduced To Clear, so not available everywhere. Probably can be found on the camera film/memory card end opposite checkouts.

I picked up one a few weeks ago, and they are NOT Readyboot compatible.

Readyboost isn't system memory, so whether you're running 32bit or 64bit Windows 7 is irrelevent.

FAT32 isn't limited to 4GB capacity, the largest partition size of FAT32 is 2TB. I think you're referring to the file size limit.

Scorching if I can find one!

me likey ,hot from me

Sweet.

None at Reading West :-(

Due to the fact that ReadyBoost cache is stored as a file, one has to format flash drive as NTFS or exFAT to use more than 4 GB of space for caching, because FAT16 and FAT32 impose file size limit of 2 and 4 GB respectively.

These have been popping up at this price for quite a while. After an earlier mention on here I'd almost given up looking but managed to pick one up a couple of months ago.

They've also been reducing the odd 16GB and 8GB Cruzers, some of them the earlier design.

There doesn't appear to be any pattern to where these are cropping up so all I can suggest is that if you're in a Tesco and see a likely looking package, especially if there's no matching shelf edge label, get it scanned to check the price. That's how I got mine.

Picked this up in my local tesco (Old Swan, Liverpool) just before after being on the look out for one. Label was full price but scanned at £29.99. Cheers OP!

Woo Hoo - My first ever HUKD to make the top five of the week :w00t:

Does anyone have the catologue number or such so I can phone up a few tescos and find out if any have stock?

What's the real benefit of one of these over say the 250GB portable USB HDD's from Sainsbury's at £29.99. In terms of portability, there's really not a great deal in it, both will fit into a pocket!

Thanks OP, just picked one up from my local. H & R from me.

The USB flash drive is far more portable as they're far smaller and lighter than a USB hard drive allowing you to put them on a keyring which you certainly couldn't do with a USB hard drive. Flash memory is more durable and I certainly wouldn't carry a USB hard drive in my pocket as it's still too bulky for that.

can someone who has purchased on please post barcode no.

thanks

If it's the number under the barcode you're after it's - 19659 05385 on mine.

Hope that helps

I know what they both are. My USB drive is tiny, ok, it won't fit on a keyring, but it'll fit in my pocket no problem...At 32GB you're looking at doing more than the odd bit of "file transferral" IMO...

That makes no sense, clearly your USB drive can't be tiny if it doesn't fit on a keyring - I have two of these Sandisk drives on my keyring along with two other keys and the USB drives aren't noticeable. I do use USB hard drives extensively but they have their place just as USB flash drives do, I wouldn't use a hard drive on my keyring nor in my pocket but I would have a flash drive for capacity.

Just picked up the last one up @ Cardiff pengam store. On Tesco site they are £79.99.;-)

I've yet to find any in the Tescos stores up here in Inverness

Shame that. especially as Inverness could survive World War 3 thanks to the number of Tescos surrounding it!

I have been on the road all day or would have posted the serial number. I popped back to the store I was in yesterday but they were sold out and no more due to come in as it is discontinued on their system.

i checked Irvine store and as posted no trace....good hint for that store is just down from where the have usb drives there is one of the price checking scanners

Well ok, it's not tiny, but it's about as big as my wallet! I guess, as you say, they serve their purpose, but they're damn expensive in comparison.

I was going to get one purely for playing AVCHD files on my PS3, as my files end up coming in around 30GB, so not having to plug into an external power supply would be a bonus, which is what my new USB HDD gives me.

There's only three up here, one of which is a big one - you might be thinking of Dundee though which is indeed surrounded by large Tesco's. Will keep an eye out though!
