Sandisk 400GB Ultra microSDXC Memory Card from Amazon.de - £117 delivered.

I missed the deal back in May for this at £141.99 which was annoying, but found that you can now get it from Amazon.de for only £137 including the delivery. TBH, I am still struggling to justify this, but if it allows more games on the Switch then it's OK, I'd hope we'll see these down to <£120 in the next couple of months.

Dispatched & Sold by Amazon.

Once in the basket the SD card is ~€145.06, and the shipping is only €5.51.
Paid for in € with a fee free card, including shipping it comes a total of ~€150.57, which translates to £131-134 depending on the card used, and exchange rate when you check out.

If you prefer to check out using GBP, then the Amazon currency converter will cause the cost to go up to about £137 which isn't terrible.

EDIT: Price has dropped, to only £132 now.
EDIT 30/07/18: Price is now €125, with shipping it is about £117.

Terrible value when a faster and more reliable 128GB U3 card is around £25.

I 100% agree, this is not great value, but when has anything at the high end of a product spectrum been good value?

Having only one MicroSD slot means that having the larger card is the only option without swapping it out, which means you are paying for the convenience of a larger card, and we as consumers love paying for convenience don't we? Hence the point in this site, getting the best price for the product you are shopping for. HAve a nice day.

It's not terrible value for the same memory card else where, which is what you should be voting on.

384GB for £75 is much better value. Faster, more reliable cards too.

Good luck fitting 3 cards into one slot, when you amange it, and get them all working at the same time, let us all know please.

You don't need to put 3 cards into one slot. Nobody works with 400GB files at any one time. I do tons of photography and 4K/60 video work and I've never found any need to have anything more than 128GB SD/MicroSD cards. They're also a better safeguard against data loss than relying on one single 400GB card, and those Sandisk Ultras are known to have higher failure rates with the TLC NAND that they use.

Which TLC NAND are Sandisk using?

Broadly stating, "nobody" uses 400GB at once is just wrong, you know of nobody, maybe that is what you mean.

Nobody generates 400GB files in one sitting. Those that do eg. Scarlet Red users and similar use proprietary storage. They certainly wouldn't be using U1 microsd cards as they're bottom of the memory food chain in terms of speed and reliability.

So, you comment that no one uses 400GB, yet failed to even bother reading the reason I bought this card? So I'll reiterate it for you, I have a single Micro SD slot on my Nintendo Switch, and it is shared by a whole family, this card will hopefully last me the entire life span of the console without ever having to delete/re-download games, therefore wasting time, or swapping them out and ending up losing them.

So, yeah no one needs/uses 400GB.

Anyhow, can you please tell me what sort of TLC is in this card, since you inferred you knew?

Sandisk source all types of TLC NAND from the major vendors like Micro, Hynix Toshiba etc at all different grades, particularly pre-WD. Give that the failure rates are high and the repeated write durability is poor, the likelihood is that a cheaper / lower grade of TLC memory is being used.

And you eff the socket swapping the cards in and out. I like to go covert with my get iPlayer stash of BBC related stuff just in case the detector bandits call. This will do nicely as I nearly filled my 256 thanks op

Of course you don't. They're designed to be inserted/removed thousands of times. It's not even a mechanical switch. It's no different to when you plug in your every day to charge it up. The connector is specifically designed for repeated use.

The next standard has just been announced which supports up to 128TB and also PCIe but it will take a while to hit the marketplace.
