whats a ready boost

I tested ReadyBoost on my 16GB version of this drive and it slowed the system down. You need a much faster card. My laptop has an SD card slot I added one of these

play.com/Ele…tml

and it runs like a bat out of hell

That is a good offer..

I just bought a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium from WH Smith for £8. The Titanium version is more rugged, since metal body. Also supports U3 and Ready Boost for Vista. Therefore, I think it's not such a good deal.

I have one of these & tried it as readyboost & noticed no difference what so ever

I got one of these previously, readyboost probably good for Vista users, but i have xp and the u3 stuff is annoying, in the end i went to sandisk website and found out how to remove it.
It also glows Bright orange when in use, and i find the sliding / retractable usb a pain as when you insert it, it wants to retract.
Not a patch on the PNY Mini Attache 4GB I picked up at ALDI for the same price it rotates around and doesn't glow like the sandisk.
I need to see when ALDI or another online retailer will get some more at that price

I've got a couple of 8GB versions of this stick. Still packaged up and sealed as new. If anyone wants one - £10 + £1 for the recorded P&P.

I'm sure that they've been this price for ages...?!?

Thanks but they are only £9.99 delivered from Amazon or Play

hmmm i got mine like 3 years ago and that was like £13 so i cant see this being that much of a deal?

wow that's amazing. fair enough! Go buy it from Play...these are good sticks!

Not a bad price for a relatively good speed 4gig flash drive.

ReadyBoost isn't really much of a feature though tbh

Urgh more readyboost discussion. Buy some RAM for petes sake! It's not much more expensive and will speed your PC or laptop us so much more.

Exactly, RAM is so cheap right now.

This is better than readyboost. Also works with XP.

Makes a big difference to XP. I have 2 GB ram so more RAM would not boost my performance in XP, but this made a huge difference especially when opening applications which you have already cached on the USB drive.

Great post. Also available for £6.49 including one-day delivery, using Amazon Prime free trial.

'ReadyBoost' sounds about as effective as the 'Turbo' in Gillette Mach 3 Razr's!

I've had my Prime free trial, but I still would buy at amazon as their free postage is way quicker than play.com's

It isn't even as effective as that.

ReadyBoost is just a useless "feature" to make non technology literate people feel good about their cheap computers.

You couldn't be more right. It's not that expensive to buy 4gb of RAM which will make your pc a lot faster

USB can only work with the speed of the card. It is the card speed which creates the bottle neck

Readyboast is not to be confused with RAM. Readyboast reduces read write times from the page file for system files and has been to shown to improve the system

I didn't confuse readyboost with RAM.

I was just pointing out that it would be more beneficial to upgrade the RAM for a similar price than use readysteadymycomputerisshitandIwanttofeelbetteraboutitboost

Know what else reduces read write times from the page file? Upgrading the RAM and using that instead of it.

Anything you say...... apples and pears me thinks

Nothing like apples and pears. Getting a flash drive for ReadyBoost instead of upgrading RAM is like using premium petrol such as BP Ultimate instead of regular and expecting it to make your car go faster instead of buying a faster car or replacing some of the main components such as the engine.

In other words, you're just kidding yourself along with ReadyBoost.

Using physical RAM instead of a page file is always faster than using one and definately a wiser move, especially when the RAM prices are so damn low.
