I have an old Clip Zip that I still use every day and love it. If you install the latest version of Rockbox on these it supposedly doubles the battery life - along with adding masses of new menu items and features. I'm not sure it has doubled the battery on mine, but it is definitely lasting a lot longer than it was before. I was wrong. Rockbox doesn't work on the Clip Sport. Sorry about that.

Much better sound with decent phones than the iPod Touch I had until recently Wait for it....!

Sansa clip with rockbox and some decent headphones really takes some beating. Yes, you have to spend a little time configuring rockbox but the results can be outstanding.

Oh no, I didn't realise. My bad for posting duff info. Will edit original post...thanks for pointing that out Nexy.
Mp3 player.... Takes me back.
FM radio! Yeah!
I still use my Sansa Clip + regularly after 9 years of continuous use and still get at least 12 hours battery life from it.

Yeah, completely different hardware to its predecessor apparently - looks like one of the Actions Semi chips, so unlikely to ever get a Rockbox port. It's just fundamentally less capable hardware than the older devices, closer to one of the cheap Chinese "MP4" players. Probably saved SanDisk a bit on the manufacturing costs though.

Bought my step dad a sandisk Sansa clip+ 9 years ago and it's still going strong. No need to rockbox unless you are a hardcore user though.
Is there a good Sansa item to get to replace the Sansa Clip + when it finally dies? One with the potential to use Rockbox and at a similar price?

Only couple of issues I have had with the Sansa Clip+, is the clip broke after a while and once the device froze and I had to reboot it via holding a buttlon or two. Forget what exactly was required.

The Clip+ is so small and lightweight to carry around but the sound is great.
Clip+ user also. When setting them up select usa as selecting eu means it limits its volume due to regulations.

I too would be very interested in a suggestions for a suitable Clip+ replacement. I've done some research and it seems nothing quite hits the mark. My Clip+ can no longer hold more than 30 minutes of charge so I will be looking to replace the battery. For those in a same position a me, the battery required is:

and the "guide" I hope to follow is:

Seems somewhat simple enough as long as you are careful with your soldering.

If only I could solder. I've got few clip+s that the headphone jack has come adrift on.

Love these MP3 players. Durable and loud if select USA region
/g/ approved
i have the clip+ that i use and clip zip still in its box brand new ...was the clip zip better sounding i know it had a colour screen
Make sure you change your country to the USA as it stops them limiting your sound.

Great players and with the expanded memory its perfect
