The Play.com own brand is £10.99, £10.44 with RAC discount and under a tenner after Quidco. Gets good reviews and is also Class 2 like this one. For some, though, the couple of extra quid is worth it for the Sandisk brand quality.

Not worth paying extra for a brand in this case imo. The play cards might even be made by the same people. Anyone know for sure who the play cards are made by..?

Missed this offer at Boffer the other night: boffer.co.uk/blo…403

3 x SanDisk 4 GB SDHC - £8.99 (+ £2.99 delivery)

Might be up again before the end of their sell-off.

They are made by Toshiba.

I bought a play.com one last week for £9-99. works fine!

I would be careful with this care as class 2 is not great when dealing with such a large capacity.

I recently purchased a 8gb class 6 card which performs so much better in my N95.

The class 2 will take a while to locate and load images.

Still not a bad price though.

www.7dayshop.com has Transcend 8gb microsd class 6 with adaptors for £10.99 (or £10.79 each for 2 or more.) These are including P+P.

Thanks, but one of you must be wrong. Own up, who's talking mumbo jumbo?

How about this one? Class 6 for £10.99 delivered:

Complete with adaptor, too.

MUCH BETTER!!!!

I don't know what happened to my post about 7dayshop but if you read the hotukdeals post above the question is asked as to if it is class 6 or 4. I can confirm it is class 6 as I have bought some.

Now if anyone can find me a 16gb one for double this price :whistling:
I wish memory prices worked that way.

COLD

the class 6 transcend 8gb one is better and cheaper

this is only good if you have a prime membership to get it quick

damn, didn't see the play.com one or the transcend card.... but I prefer to use sandisk brand anyway as they're the same brand I use for my digital cameras etc and never have any probs with them.

this is correct!

Cold I'm afraid.

7dayshop.com sell for less and is a higher class.

I'm not going to go into this in depth but you cannot really say that.

Benchmark any of the sandisk class2's class4's etc for read and write speeds and most get 19-20mbs read and 14-16mbs write.

Trancend have jumped on a marketing gimmick that is the classing of cards, class 6 means that they will guarantee that it will be a minimum of 6mbs write speed, so in this case their inferior cards that still confirm to this (most at about 7-8mbs at most) can be marketed as class 6 cards.

All of the sandisk ones i have here and have tested, class 2 or 4, have never been below 12mbs on the write speed, and always above 15mbs on the read speed.

I fell foul to the trancend marketing gimmick and actually ordered a class 6 card and can confirm that it does 13mbs, read and 7mbs write, which is still within class 6 spec but is way below what actual sandisk cards perform.

I benchtest all cards as i use them in many different devices and want the best for my ones, my kids get all the slower ones.

Just for the record, the trancend class 6 cards have a much slower random access time too!

But believe what you like as that's what you are lead to believe anyway,.

i expect the averages are much better for the sandisk as they always perform well there but for anyone that needs sustained write speed the transcend is better because as long as its over the minimum its going to work, for the sandisk as soon as it dips below the minimum you lose performance.
I am definitely surprised that the sandisk has faster random access also as its generally pretty slow there - you have comparative figures?

Play.com have been doing this card for £9.99 delivered for ages (yes this Sandisk one not their own), it's been posted on here lots of times before... hotukdeals.com/ite…rd/

It was advertised as class 4 but they were sending out this class 2 version (If i'd known that I would have ordered the Transcend Class 6 from 7dayshop instead)

That's expired as it's now gone up to £13.99

For those who are interested, I just did a benchmark of the MicroSD cards I own and was quite surprised by the results.

The results below are from transferring 2 files totalling 0.98GB to/from the card and taking the average transfer speed from the time it took to transfer the files...

I was honestly expecting the class 6 Transcend to be the fastest, but at writing it performed the slowest of them all! :? I will definatley take a look at some benchmarks and not just the class of the card next time I am thinking of buying a memory card
