This little player is great with very long battery life so will not drain your phone battery unnecessarily and is ultra portable with a clip for when you are feeling active and don't want a smartphone constantly falling out of your pocket.

From the little I have read the older Clip+ seems to be the most featured of the players, with the larger colourful screen - we enjoy ours. I have just bought our Son a Clip Sport as it will suit his needs (also it was green which is his favourite colour.
Some are suggesting that the Jam is a cut down version of the Sport, which in turn is less featured player of the Clip+. I do not know the details as I have been a little confused over all of these players. The Jam is not listed here yet....

en.wikipedia.org/wik…nsa

Some people prefer the Clip+ as it can also use the RockBox firmware. But I prefer the original UI as the RB one is awful to navigate etc, imo.

Another point is that I have noted one person use a 64GB card in their Clip+, not sure if that was because it was running RB or not. My 64GB card is due soon and so I can test that.

From what I have read, not a great deal, I would go for a Clip+.

Is the sound quality on these noticeably better than the average smart phone?

Music through my phone (even with decent earphones) sounds very tinny.

Excellent price - just ordered. My Clip Plus's volume control just broke, which is a known fault with the Clip Plus. I've had my Clip for over two years. The Jam appears to have significantly better battery life than the Clip Plus, which is my main reason to go with the Jam, but hoping the sound quality is as good.

Both my wife and myself thoroughly enjoy the quality of the music played through our Clip+ players over that of our phones. Using the same headset in both types of devices seems to give an improved "full range" sound from the Clips, regardless of player of equaliser. Trying to match that on the phone typically means that I lose top end sounds trying to give more "fullness" to compensate for the tinny sound you describe.
Another point is that it saves on the phones battery by using one of these.
I just wished that they made one with BT then I could use my Sony BT headset. Not only would that be wireless but also allow me to have control over the player via the headset.

The Clip+ is also useful as it has an audiobook feature which recognises chapters and can delete books etc. Not sure if this is still there in the Jam player though.
The Clip+ also has a radio function, useful for me. Not sure abut the Jam....?

Wonder how this fits in with the other Sansa players. The Clip Zip is probably the highest end model, I have the Sport because the battery life is much higher than on the Clip Zip but the software is not nearly as good as on the old model and you can tell they've tried to save money on cheap internals as everything has a slight delay.

vbx20 not valid?

My bad, Upper Case required.

Ordered the black £19.99 delivered. Kerching, Hot, thank you very much OP.

I remember wanting an original clip way back in the day because of the great reviews..I now have a clip sport which is great if a little plasticky and refuses to ever run out of juice..if this model is anything like that then its a steal..

Excellent, thank you. Code works fine, so a bonus on an already good deal.

Love these, use every day, so ordered an Orange one, don't forget your Quidco. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks, my creative zen broke last night after 8 years of use. Good timing.

Now there was a quality MP3 player!

I am still using a Sandisk mp3 player from about 10 years ago. I prefer it to the passed on iPod I was given. Excellent sound quality and far more robust than Apple gear. Tempted by this deal but don't really need one. Thanks OP.

And I still miss my old Sony with sound quality beating anything on the market today, including quite a few hifi amps.

It's a real shame software that came with it was pain in the a$$ to use..

How does this compare to the Clip Zip? I've had that for a few years and wonder if this is an upgrade over it?

What bitrate have you tried? With storage quite cheap I would always rip @ 320 these days.

are there any reviews on this?

Holy moly, I remember buying these for a small fortune!

The software was beyond shocking. How times have moved on huh?

It wouldn't. By using it instead of your phone.;)

The 'MIMO' code doesn't seem to work for me. I get: "Sorry, that code is not valid."

Use VBX20

Thanks! That did it! Got the black one.

I wish these had bluetooth.

I miss my original Sansa Fuze...:(

I'd buy two if this was the deal. Hot anyway.

cant decide between this and the clip+, anyone have any advice as cant find any reviews for the jam

This is based off the Clip Sport, but skips some features. It doesn't have support for flac or vorbis, therefore I went with the 8GB Clip Plus. I think it is worth the extra £5. Plus you can Rockbox if you wish, whereas I don't think it's possible on the Sport/Jam.

I've not had a chance to test it out properly yet, but it has had some great reviews. I bought it to have along side my Qoolqee K7 which I've had for nearly 10 years! Amazingly it still working perfectly, however, it has limited storage and file support.

Currently listening to my Zen Vision M, Fantastic sound quality and I've yet to hear anything (within a reasonable budget) that lives up to it.

As far as I could find, Jam has longer lasting battery (up to 18h, while Clip+ can run up to 15h per charge), is newer model, comes in more colors, is based on Sansa Sport (same cpu and limitations), and I'm afraid that's about it.
Clip+ has radio, supports more audio formats and best part: can be patched with rockbox. I did mine today, after owning clip+ for more than 3 years and wow, I wish I've done it ages ago. Sound quality has improved, SD cards larger than 32GB can be supported. battery apparently lasts longer (haven't had a chance to test that yet), has a ton of other features I haven't checked yet... I personally would go for Clip+ because all these years I had mine, battery still goes for solid 8h, has been bumped, dropped etc as I use it at work and only thing that has broken is the clip at the back. Best player I ever owned.

Nice played, sir! X)

Decided to get a couple of the black models @£19.99 each (two orders).
One for me, one for gf, we're both fed up of high battery usage on the phones and it's really put me off listening to music out-and-about.
Just wish they had soundcloud streaming integrated.
