You can get it for £12.49 at Amazon:

amazon.co.uk/San…RW/

Bought one the other day.

Good deal you can also get an 8gb on play for £34.99 however your better of with 2 4gbs just in case one goes corrupt that way you lose less pics

i think its old version as new one has higher read/write speed
picstop.co.uk/Com…4GB

true but you only really need that if you have the gear that can produce that many pics a second e.g. the 1D the only other reason to get the other one is if your always in a rush to get them on ur pc, but still quite good for only a few pounds more

Having bought two of these over the past 6 weeks I can confirm that they are the newer versions (30MB/sec).

Might have been a useful post, but you've linked to a SD card (NOT a Compact Flash)

:whistling:

I already have one of these from amazon a few weeks ago, now someone has confirmed they're the newer 30Mb/sec versions I've just ordered a couple more.

How many pictures do you take?!?!?! You do realise that you can reuse them once you take the pix off right??? :-D

Well I went out for a walk on Sunday and filled my 4Gb pretty quickly, so a couple more should tide me over if I go somewhere really interesting

I blame my growing addiction to Flickr tbh.

Flippin eck!! Out of interest what camera do you use?

Sony a200 in RAW mode is good for about 200 photos on one of these cards, so if i go away for a couple of days and don't take the laptop, then it saves me messing about liberating space on memory cards etc until I get home and then I can wipe and filter out the ones I want to keep.

I looked at that one (I think), but settled I've got the Canon 400d just because I'd used one before. I dont shoot in RAW but I will do once I get time to fathom the settings (still using the dreaded "auto everything" setting!!) :-D

Heh well I had an old minolta dynax 35mm camera and the sony got half decent reviews (and uses the same lens mount) so my wife treated me for my birthday.

Went out last Sunday and filled the card with the camera firmly set in manual to get back into the swing of things as I hadn't used my SLR much in the past few years and got a couple of nice shots including the one below...

Thats a really nice shot!! sorry to be a pain but what lens was that shot with? Im still with the "crummy" 18-55 kit yet Im constantly impressed with what the camera can do. Im ASSURED that with a half decent lens the results will be even better so Im on the look out. Narrowed down to the "nifty fifty" 50mm and/ or (depending on xmas money) the 28-105 canon lens (been told to look out for the macro and "made in japan" markings), which seems to get good reviews for around £150, dont suppose you have any other tips/ suggestions on a choice do you??

That's with the kit SONY 18-70mm lens, if you follow the link through on Flickr on the image I posted, you'll see the ]EXIF data from it on the right hand side, which will tell you what F stop, shutterspeed etc.

If you're just starting to learn, I personally wouldn't buy another lens to replace the kit lens, instead buy a few memory cards and stick the camera into manual mode and take the same shot with different shutter speeds etc and when you get home you can physically see the difference the f stops and shutter speeds make. It's a good way of learning, I think I took 6 different exposures of the bridge image, just to check the difference it would be make.

Once you've got the basics of composition and correctly exposing images, then you'll probably have a better idea of what you like photographing too and then that will dictate your lens selection. I've bought an additional ]70-300mm macro lens and at the moment, these are the only two lenses that I'm using until I've developed some more skills, but if you like photographing buildings you may prefer a wide angle, or flowers may require a good macro lens and if you buy a lens now based on a review it may be a good lens, but won't match what you want to take pictures of.

If you're finding that exposures and settings are really baffling you then I found ]this book really clear and easy to understand and well worth a purchase.

If you need anymore help drop me a PM, or just sign up for flickr for free as they're are loads of beginner groups and send me a flickr mail if you need to. Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

EDIT: for hyperlinkage

Thanks Allstar, I'll do that as I really want to start using the camera properly rather than using it as a glorified compact!! Thanks again, watch out for my award winnng shot on flikr (probably the most under exposed or most out of focus shot of the month award!!! :-D)

Drop me a line when you're registered, I'll keep an eye out for your photostream.

anymore cool deals on it?
