Hmm....

thanks a lot OP. ordered the blue one (as the matter of time) for my running. rep added ^ ^

Thanks - been waiting for a good mp3 deal for my son's xmas present.

These are very good, the best small mp3 player i've used, and have actually gone up in price (on amazon) about 10% since i bought mine 6 months ago...

Excellent find. So much better value wise than any apple mp3 player and more sensible too.

And better sound quality.

I must admit, I ended up buying the 8GB Fuze from the same site instead, though. Still good value at £59.99, and 8GB expandable to 40GB or so should be able to store all my music in a handy pocket-sized form.

Had mine for over a year now. It's an excellent little player, I use it all the time when I'm out on my bike

Btw, you can't tell from the picture but it's a tiny little lightweight thing

Bought one of these as a gift for a friend last month and road tested it for a couple of days first...
I was suprised to find the sound quality was better than my ipod and battery life was good too.
Make sure to update to the latest 01.01.30 firmware as this makes it work properly with mac os x and gives flac and ogg support too.

Shouldn't be that surprising - iPod has never been one of the better players for sound quality, whereas the Clip has a very good reputation.

Does anyone know if the memory is extendable on this?

No, it's not.

That said, they also have good prices on the Sansa Fuze players - £59.99 for 8GB, less for smaller (obviously) which have Micro SD expansion slots - currently up to 16GB cards available, with 32GB coming in the future.

The integration of the memory slot on the Fuze (and other Sandisk players) is supposed to be pretty good as well, unlike the Zen which I saw you were also looking at. There's a comparative review of the Clip against the equivalent Zen player here. You can also see detailled reviews for the Fuze and the Zen players you were asking about at the same site.

Does anyone know where you could get a reasonably priced reliable make mains charger for this Sansa Clip mp3 player? I would prefer not to buy off ebay. Thanks.

motorola phone chargers work apparently.. !!

You could also get one of the mains-powered USB charging plugs and use the supplied cable.

That's what I use. ]Play.com have one for £3.99

I have ordered, though notice that they say 'Stock Arriving within 2-3 working days.'
Anyone used base.com before and know how reliable they are?
This is a Christmas present so I'll be dead meat if it doesn't arrive in good time.

Good question Semiartificial. I was wondering the same thing. I wasn't best pleased when I found that my shopping acknowledgement included an attempt to draw me into the "Shopper Discount and Rewards" scheme, which is worth Googling.

I've order speakers from there before - They were in stock at the time and i think they arrived in 2 or 3 days from when i ordered? They are a reputable company anyway

For those that are still interested the current stock situation with these is...
Black - usually dispatched in 4 to 6 days
Pink - stock on order - 2 to 3 weeks (best avoid the pink me thinks!)
Blue - stock arriving within 2-3 days.

Black or blue should be fine for Christmas i would think BUT don't blame me if it isn't!

Thanks for the info about base

Just got a message from base that they have processed the order, which will be sent first class.

... which hasn't arrived.
I am a bit concerned because I asked them why I hadn't received an email confirming the order, and also asked how confident they were that stock would arrive as planned.
They sent an email saying how sorry they were I hadn't received the item, which was despatched ... the same day! And then had two paras of info about stuff getting lost in the post, what to do etc
Obviously a form letter, but I'm now starting to wonder ...
