OK price, but has been available for £35/36 from amazon in recent past, and slightly cheaper elsewhere.

I've not seen the 8gb version at 35?

I like the sansa stuff, they play ogg vorbis format which is a plus point for us linuxy people.

They also play FLAC so very useful with as large capacity MicroSD card as possible for those of us too sonicaly-snobbish to settle for compressed music at any time.

Cheers, wish I'd seen that. We've got a Fuze and a 2gb clip+ - both very good and I do like the flexibility and the expansion.

Me too, love FLAC, but putting my picky hat on for a moment FLAC IS compressed, it's just not lossy.

Does the clip stick out much and/or can you remove it?

You can't remove it, but imo it is hardly noticable. Got this a few months back when it was ~£35 - to my tone deaf ears the sound from it is fantastic, even with the supplied earphones.
Tip: Make sure you set your region to rest of world (setting region to Europe causes EU restrictions on the volume output)

Just bought the 4 gig last week for same price - typical. Great little player. I would recommend putting Rockbox on it though, as it's much better than the normal firmware and it (supposedly) increases the battery life...

Thanks for that and for the region tip - have repped you and OP. Having had problems with my zen working in widnows 7 I think I'll go for this.

My problem is getting the demo songs off it. They only appear in a certain USB mode and my pc won't recognise the player using it.

Not convinced by the so-called original price of £119.83

lol it was never, ever, £119.83

As long as you can see them, you should be able to delete the demos from the menu within the player.
Not sure from memory but I think play the track then press the bottom button and delete should be somewhere there.

Lol same here.

I bought it off amazon when it was posted here for £35.50 and I've got to say I haven't stopped using it for about 4 months!

Awesome for the gym, running and just general use.

Recommend it 100%

it's a great bit of kit. Instead of 6 CDs in my car I have this wired into the AUX socket with an extra 4gb card... that's about 40 CDs on continuous shuffle, and the battery lasts for a about a week. Velcro'd to my dashboard so when I park up I just rip it off and stuff it in a cubbyhole so it's invisible. This thing is so compact it could fit in the ashtray.

Agreed, haven't stopped using it, since i bought it at the same price. And i've only had to charge it like 5 times

ROCKbox is also a great addition to it, much prefer it to the original firmware.

What's rockbox mate????

I'm trying Rockbox now, it's an alternative operating system for the player.
It's got a lot of good features but the menus are pretty depressing and 80s looking. I miss the giant animated icons of the original operating system.

Just seen the menu's on youtube...they look dreadful.

I'll keep the original firmware.

ABX flac against V2 or V0 LAME mp3. Both those VBR's are transparent on high end hi-fi systems, so using flac on a portable player is totally pointless imo.

There is a lot of BS quoted on the internet, few of those have ABX'd.

Fair enough, although i prefer the fact that more than 3 artists/songs etc can be seen on the screen in rockbox, unlike the OF.

Substance over style imo

Does this come with AUX (black and red connections) so I can connect this to the MP3 cable thing in my Peugeot?
