great mp3 player

Brilliant little player with a massive battery life.

Had one for years and it works perfectly.

I always use Rockbox as the default firmware.

Ordered one, thanks OP, great price. (6% Quidco too)
Excellent mp3 player, had an 8gb in black until lost it few months ago. Ran it with both the standard firmware and Rockbox & was really happy with it hence buying this one now. Highly recommend it.

The usb port on these is on the side, not the base so I imagine it won't work in a dock.

Anyone know if you can put a 32gb micro sd card in this? You can in the clip+, but cant find the info on the clip. Or maybe this is actually the clip+?

Thanks

This is the clip+ and yes it does work with a 32gb card.

does anyone know any good prices for a 8gb sansa that can be rockboxed? i want to max out the capacity so paying a little bit more for 8gb over 4gb is worth it. i want to put a 64gb card in too. best i could see was about £30 on ebay for a refurb

thx Stools very kind

For anyone considering a 32gb card with this, amazon reviews say not to buy an 'ultra' card as they dont work ... just buy a standard speed one apparently

I have an ultra in mine works fine. You don't need the extra speed though, so why pay more.

Heat added. A fantastic music player. Add a 32GB micro SD card, put lots of FLAC files on it, add some decent cans (Bose, Sennheiser) and away you go!

thx for taking the time to confirm this in

I use Samsung Memory 32GB Evo MicroSDHC Class 10 (£11.78 Amazon) in mine to play FLAC files.

The included headphones are suprisingly good!

Anyone know if it stores its last play time position, ie listening to an audio book , when you switch off it saves your place and continues when switched back on

Yep - remembers all the last play positions. I listen to podcasts/audio books and when you go back to them it asks if you want to resume. So you could have lots on the go at the same time if you wanted to. Great player. In fact, better then the newer clips IMHO

You just have to put them in the podcast or audiobook folder I think.

Oh I see you went for the Zip, same thing applies
(I bought my wife one, she loves it for podcasts)

I just bought one of the last black new Sansa Clip Zips from eBay for the same price. It has a larger colour screen and some other things over that of the Clip+. The red version is still there, and others....

ebay.co.uk/itm…611

I am tempted to try the Rockbox firmware when it arrives. For those who have the player and tried the firmware are there any advantages to using that over stock....?

ordered one thanks, my Archos Vision 10b (4GB) has gone missing last week. Im sure it will turn up - then i'll have two jogging mp3 players!

2002 called, it wants its MP3 player back

Is the zip version better?

I just bought this one as I had a £10 off voucher. ebay.co.uk/itm…AIT

Two versions are available, a 4 GB model for US$50 and an 8 GB model for US$70. The 4 GB model comes in nine colors (red, blue, black, orange, white, grey, purple, lime and teal), while the 8 GB model is only available in black or grey.[8]The Clip Zip includes all the features of the Clip+ and is based on the same processor as the Clip+ and Fuze v2 but includes a larger 1.1-inch full-color OLED[9] display with support for album art (but called "LCD" in a press release[10]), redesigned controls, a Micro-USB connector, a new user interface similar to that of the Fuze+, a stopwatch, RDS radio capability[11] and support for DRM-free AAC audio files (such as those purchased from the iTunes Store).[12] The new Clip Zip will be sold alongside the Clip+. Internally the Clip Zip is similar to the Clip+ (apart from the Zip having a color screen), and so retains its high quality DAC and amplifier.

That is what I found.

Main advantage is Rockbox plays AAC files, Clip+ doesnt. ClipZip does, I believe.
Rockbox also remembers your sleep setting whereas you have to reset it each time for Clip+ (as I listen in bed it is quite useful to set it to turn itself off).
There are tons of settings to play around with on Rockbox but if you prefer it simple, stick with stock firmware - but once Rockboxed you can change between the two by holding left button when powering on.

Thanks for that. I can imagine that my wife may well be content with its std functions on the original firmware. As I have just ordered on for me I'll test out the Rockbox firmware, although the development seems to have stopped from what I can see.

I listed to audio books every night using an app on my tablet, via BT headphones. What I like about that is that it has an auto pause function if the tablet is not moved for xx minutes, useful as I would otherwise fall asleep with it on and waken up to voices in my head..!

If it's like last time they had these on offer they'll have no stock but take your money and then take weeks to refund.

I speak from personal experience of this company. Tread carefully.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all their help on here ... ended up buying a refurbished zip off ebay for 18.99 and a samsung 32gb micro sd

Cant wait to not have to deal with itunes anymore ... and means i can safely leave my ipod classic in the house

Thanks everyone ... this is a very nice online community when the trollers are off elsewhere making other people miserable
