It's just a regular card with Nintendo branding. There is no reason for it to exist other than looking pretty.
Thanks op. I was able to combine this £10 off £25 spend discount to get it for £7.99 as Amazon treats the original price as £25.99.
£7.99 microSD card arrived - nice

Relatively easy:

Remove the original microSD card from the Nintendo Switch console.Insert the microSD card with the Nintendo Switch data into the microSD card reader/writer.Open Windows Explorer (for PC) and access the microSD card.Highlight the data and drag it to the desktop.
  • If you are moving your content to a new microSD card, be sure to first format the new card per our recommendations.
  • Do not delete, format, or alter the content from the original microSD card until you have verified the new microSD card is working correctly.
  • Once the new card has been formatted, continue with the instructions below.
Eject the first microSD card, then insert the second microSD card into the slot or reader/writer.Using Windows Explorer access the microSD card again.Drag the data from the desktop to the new microSD card, then insert the new microSD card into the Nintendo Switch console.

Nice! basically drag & drop
I’m a collector, and I collect a lot of Nintendo bits. But so long as these are more expensive just because they have a mushroom on them, I’ll vote them cold.
They do the same job and once you’ve put it in your Switch, you’ll never see how it looks!

Save yourself £5 and don’t bother!
It probably is just a regular micro sd with fancy colors. However I'm subscribed to engadget's rss feed and the following came up not so long ago:

Does this come with an SD card adapter?

Do you have an Apple Mac instead?.

A Window's Tablet? (LINX, or Microsoft Surface).

Either of the above 'alternatives' would do the job perfectly well ...

And/or one of these too instead perhaps:

RAVPower FileHub Plus, Wireless Travel Router, SD Card Reader USB Portable Hard Drive Companion, DLNA NAS Sharing Media Streamer 6700mAh External Battery Pack

amazon.co.uk/dp/…QJS

RAVPower FileHub, Travel Router AC750, Wireless SD Card Reader, Connect Portable SSD Hard Drive to iPhone iPad Tablet Smart Phone Laptop for Photo Backup, Data Transfer, Portable NAS, 6700mAh Battery

amazon.co.uk/gp/…ile

You're welcome.

The £14.49 one is U1 and this is U3, meaning the speed 10mb vs 30 mb minimum.

The Amazon Assistant £10 promo worked for me the other day on this item. Firstly is the promo working properly for you, i.e. are you seeing it as a £10 Promo discount at checkout stage? Can test it (without buying) on something else like a DVD box set that's £25+ and importantly must be sold/despatched by Amazon.
Thanks for the heads-up. I was actually looking at these over the past couple of days and I'm glad I waited. Managed to couple the free £10 promo using the Amazon Assistant deal too to bring it down to £7.99.
