I almost don't want to buy these because they will be £10 cheaper next week.

Would this be a good SSD to use as a cache drive on unraid?

I'm kinda worried though, what if the prices starts to go up again?

I doubt it. 3 year warranty only. I used my SanDisk SSD Plus on my Fedora server, and it completely failed a few weeks ago after 3.5 years. Can't recover anything. Is SSD Plus is the value range?
Great deal for under 90 pounds I might buy one for my playstation

That's the problem, who knows? - we've been here before, 2 to 3 years ago prices got lower and lower although never as low as prices are now....then they stopped making so much memory, forced the market price up to nearly double and that lasted for 2 years.

I'd say buy now if you need one or two.....but yes I reckon we'll see 1TB drives drop a bit further to £70 perhaps.
Has anyone use this in a PS4 ? thinking of giving that a try, but not sure if worth it 😁
Voted hot. I want it badly but having purchased the 480GB versiononly weeks ago I can’t justify it. A dream deal for someone building a system from scratch though.

Do people recommend this as a boot drive? Obviously it’s fantastic for storage.

This PLUS is the budget version yes, historical reviews have shown that it’s not even certain exactly what chips are inside as they have changed components without the label changing. The ULTRA is the exact same drive as the WD Blue 3D

Yes absolutely essential as a boot drive if you don't have any SSD, for storage drive, less so.... if you haven't got your operating system on an SSD it's the best thing you can possibly do for all round improvements. I'd rather have a 120GB or 240GB SSD for the OS and manage with a mechanical drive for storage if I was on a tight budget.

Storage access time is far less important than the OS and programs

I'm no expert on these... How does this compare to the various crucial Mx 1tb ssds that get hot on here?

I think you only get the benefit of SATA3 with a PS4 Pro.
put a Crucial MX500 in my Pro and it’s made the world of difference
I said I wouldn’t, but I’m thinking of grabbing one of these for my Xbox 1X.
I currently have my most played games on the internal plattered drive, but if I get this, I’d stick it in a usb 3 caddy and put all the games on it, leaving the internal drive just holding the O/S.

It does make a massive difference. I have the original Xbox One 500gb, OS takes up 250gb. The internal SATA isn't the best either, so running an SSD in a USB 3 caddy is well worth it. Most games load considerably faster, and games that load in textures whilst you play certainly benefit. Some games, LEGO, it makes no difference. Loading screens are set to show for a certain time. LEGO Incredibles takes as longer than fallout 4.

My intention is to get it for Xbox one x and I have been saying for months I will get it if it drops below £100 for a 1TB but now with all prices going down, I have become fussy and waiting for Crucial or other brand to hit that mark as I see mixed reviews everywhere for SanDisk SSD although as long as it fails within 3 years, I should be OK:) just replace end of warranty period!:) especially with the likes of Amazon that shouldn’t be a problem:)

I've got one as an unmanaged device and performance is great. I think I tried looking for TBW warranty figures for this drive but didn't have much luck.
Crucial drives seem to have a real problem with Unraid at the moment, so something like this is probably worth a look if your budget doesn't stretch to a Samsung, but just make sure you're backing up anything that lives on it. (community backup and restore addin for docker)

Considering you can grab a 250GB NVMe drive for under £50, personally I'd recommend one of those for a boot drive, with a cheap SATA SSD like this one as a programs / fast storage drive and a larger SATA HDD for backup / archival storage.

It really depends on budget and requirements though. The vast majority of people will be fine with just a drive like this for all their day to day usage.
Voted hot. Would have bought if nvme drive.

Pointless on a standard PS4 if you are after a speed boost. The limiting factor is the interface, not the drive.

Yes perfectly fine as a cache drive as it moves your data to array depending on your mover schedule.
Would there be an easy way to clone my HP laptop 1tb HDD with recovery partition, to this SSD drive for an easy swop?

May be more utilised on the Pro but better off waiting for PS5 which will have very fast SSD already with PCIE 4.0 and also since it's B/C with PS4 games trading in my PS4 towards it day 1

Hi, it's just a small low powered HP x360 hp 13-s154sa I use for holidays, weekends away and stuff for backing up photos from camera. I read HP drives often back up but won't boot. I don't need a whole 1tb, but it appears easier to clone rather than trying to get the HDD onto a smaller SSD. Thank you
Good for ps4 pro?
This is a steal, I bought a Adata 1TB SSD 9 months ago for £168 on Amazon. It was the cheapest price at the time. As others has stated this is worth buying if your building a new PC. I am waiting to buy a 2TB for at least £170
I bought one of these when they were around the £250 mark a good few years ago and it kept my old laptop running for way more years than it otherwise would have through increased speed etc. Was well worth the extra money back then for the years of more improved computing experience.

Has only been below £30 once though in the past year and currently £35 at Insight and CVP. The performance difference from a SATA to SSD is astonishing. Once of the best upgrades you can do imo.

Yes, good price, just wondering if I will get a New Drive if buying from Amazon as recent purchase's have not been New items.
I seem to think there must be software that can detect if an SSD has been used before.
