I would recommend the crucial ssd for £73 at 275Gb. You end up with a bit more usable space which might make swapping out either a laptop hdd or not quite affording 500Gb SSD a bit more palatable.

Good price for these days I suppose.

Gone forever are the good old days low price tag of £52.99 then?

You mean the low price tag of £49.98?

Sadly there's quite a few variables that affect component prices, especially the cost of rare earth metals, and in recent times the price has went up considerably, so we most likely won't see cheap prices like these in the near future, unless something shakes up the global economy.

Ebuyer also have reduced prices on SSD mainly Crucial ones.

I need people to reduce the Smasung SSD so that I can get Assasin creed game for free!

I still can't believe how much SSDs have risen in price in recent times. I got a 960GB Sandisk Ultra II for £150 a few years back. Still, the SSD in question is a good price (by current standards) so heat added.

Not the lowest, but not a bad price.

It is just mostly down to the lack of supply of NAND.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if, like other industries where barriers to entry prevent many other competitors starting up, that there's a nice little tap that the manufacturers turn on and off at will to keep prices up.

Can someone buy this and send it back unopened please so I can get 20%+ off it in the Amazon warehouse sale? Thanks

Collusion!? Say it ain't so!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's at least some artificial supply side limitations occurring in the world of RAM/NAND Flash production.

The cynic in me reckons the (relatively few) big players realised they were quickly competing themselves into an extremely high volume, tiny profit margin industry. However, as long as they all agreed to it, they could continue to rake in the cash by selling fewer units at a higher price, which is a much cheaper to operate and easier to maintain business model. It also comes with little in the way of real risk when you can be pretty sure no new competitors are likely to pop up due to the huge time and capital investment which would be needed to start a competing company.

Can you get a neat USB 3.0 housing for one of these? There's a 750GB Hyundai one that was posted today all-in-1 USB3.0 but that was well over twice the price of this.

Yeah, any USB 3.0 2.5" housing will work just fine.

Agree wholly. Price fixing at work here. But it will take years for our political masters and competition commissioners to even take a look at this abuse. And then a small fine (which they can afford to pay) and slap on the wrist. Where does the fine amount goes, anyone's guess. (except the buyers) . Unless thee is a class action lawsuit.

Hmmmm.... still waiting for THE deal - which may or may not come black Friday... :D. Want 512 ideally.
