is there any difference in this micro SD card and the one on amazon other than the colour?
amazon.co.uk/San…-21
This is the slower version, 80MB/s read speed, write speed will be around 50MB/s tops.

Samsung Evo 128 gb will be better for the Switch its £29.99 on another thread and is a recommended card in a Nintendo magazine - it is U3 rated and much faster in the Switch.

The Sandisk is a good price for general use and it is the cheapest big brand micro sd card but it does not have a great write speed.

It does not have a U rating on the card which makes me suspect it is an old card. The new ones have U ratings as well as the others.

that sounds great, I can't find any threads on HUKD for a samsung SD card at that price though, including looking in expired, would you have a link to that please?

Eurogamer's test shows that the Switch is capped for U1 speeds and their recommendation is to get a U1 drive.

Would this be good for a mobile phone such as the Samsung Galaxy S8?
Sandisk Ultra = less durable, less reliable TLC NAND memory.

I've had 2 prematurely fail.

Waste of time/money.

COLD.

Yes look at the benchmarks in the link - U3 cards perform no better than U1.
FYI The voucher code does not work if you use Apple Pay to buy the card. Just had it appear to go through at £26.59 but then have a notification come up and say ‘£27.99’ pfft

Most of the cheap ones will be TLC memory, including the Samsung. The MLC are also known as high endurance cards which are much more suitable for dashcam and ip camera use.

The sandisk will be fine for mobile phones and cameras but neither the Sandisk or Samsung evo are warrantied for dashcam use.

The Evos will be much better for the Switch and Raspberry Pi.

Mine are mainly sandisk Ultras but also have some extremes - probably around over a dozen over the years and not one has failed. It depends what they are used for.

There is U1 speed and U1 speed. The ones I have posted in other threads show that the Samsung Evo U3 rated card is much faster in the random writes on the Switch than the U1 rated Sandisk. For read there isn't much difference but for random writes there is a massive difference. The Sandisk is something woeful like 1.5 mb/s
Yes scandisk is a bad one if you check the speed reads . The evo is the choice

That may be the case but cameras that demand U3 like the Sony A6500 and the RX100V only record 4K on U3 cards. Don't even try it on a U1, it will know and refuse.

Not really. Both of mine prematurely failed with use in my mobile phone / camera.

Never had such early failure rates in the other cards I've owned ie Lexar, Extreme, Evo+ etc.

I wasn't questioning cameras or other devices, I realise U3 has its uses. I was only going by what I have read about the Nintendo Switch.

Oddly enough I have only had one SDXC card fail on me (touch wood) and it was also a SanDisk. Figured I was just unlucky.

I own various Toshiba and Samsung SDXC cards and they all work fine.
