My Sandisk corrupted the other day, about the 2nd or 3rd Sandisk that has. Got a 128gb & a 200gb. Fortunately I had my Picasso backup on.

SanDisk Ultras don't have a great reputation, best buy official UK source, would Amazon Spain be as good with exchanges/refunds I wonder?

This is good technology to fit that amount of data in such a small space. However at the moment the cost far out ways the practicalitis as there is no way anyone will need that much space. For most nowadays phones have standard 64gb and if you pick up a 128gb for around £30 to add to it it's more than enough.

Amazing,so much on a tiny card, makes my compact flash card look like it comes from the t-rex era...

Fookin ell thats a lot of space. Could put 10 of these in a games console in the future

I paid £250 for a 256 mb USB stick once!

Wow my first pen drive was 512 mb

My ZX81 only had 1K and my Mum paid £99 for it ...

I win !

Memory cards are so unreliable these days. I think from now on I would rather keep the smaller ones and then keep backing up on my computer. I use 128gb in my phone, the other day I tried to dump it on to my PC hardrive and certain files had corrupted so I had a painful task of transferring the files 1 by 1 to see which was corrupted!

The same way you would on a 128, 64, 32GB or any other card, i.e. restore from a backup.

seeing as we're all telling our "old tech stories" My first PC was a 486dx40 with 512kb RAM and a 250md hard drive...

What did it cost cost? £1634..... for some reason I've NEVER forgotten that price....

4k video?? You can never really have too much space.

640K should be enough for anyone

Reliability of Ultra cards is poor and they have a low threshold in terms of maximum number of writes. If you're planning to use the card for alot of recording, deleting and more recording of videos, it's better to pick something with higher durability.

Most of the cheaper cards use TLC Nand which has a limited number of write cycles are therefore prone to earlier failure.

For example:

The Transcend Ultimate uses MLC Nand ie more durable and greater longevity:

And cards, such as 128GB cards, do fail. Backups are your friend.

why?

My BBC Model B had 32kb RAM.....that was considered alot in those days as the Sinclair Spectrum only had 16kb!

These were used to save data (5.25" floppy disks). This was a luxury back then - twin disk drives that made copying from one disk to another an effortless experience. Otherwise, if you only had one disk drive, you'd have to constantly swap the floppy disks in and out about 7 or 8 times to transfer data between them there's wasn't enough memory on the computer to hold the contents of an entire floppy disk (200k)!
