After seeing the Diablo toastie maker just posted, again, i decided to post a deal for the one i have. The Diabolo makes good toasties, but you lose so much bread due to the roud shape of the device, these are square, so you dont lose any offcuts. I had the Diablo for fishing years ago but got bored of wasting so much bread so purchased one of these and they are brilliant, after a few weeks of them being released, people started to release photos on Twitter os the things they have cooked in them while fishing/camping. Heres a taster of what they can do:-

  • Toasted Sandwiches
  • Fry Bacon/Sausages etc
  • Cook steaks and other meats
  • Pancakes
  • Croissants
  • Crumpets
  • Sausage Rolls
  • Omellettes

And my personal favourite, Pizza

Currently priced at £11.99 on amazon with free deliery for all, not just Prime customers for a change.

They wer eoriginally designed for camping/fishing, but you can use any strong heat source. ie, gas cooker at home, camping stove, BBQ, fire pit etc
Also available with the zip up case for an extra £4.50

Great item, can be used in conventional gas cooker - Thanks!

This is a great piece of kit, the images make it look bigger than it is though

Like to see the lawn on fire, just checked and they are fireproof but if you dropped that hot pan it will leave a nice flat melted mark.
Diablo.. the devil toastie!
Big carp angler here and these are an ESSENTIAL piece of kit when you're outside... accept no substitutes though, its Ridge Monkey or nothing I'm afraid. They have an excellent reputation for their products and support. - not that you should need it.

Cheaper than the ridge monkey one
Out fishing at moment got two on the go. The tfg one with chips in and the ridgemonkey with coated chicken breast in. Proper food while night fishing.

GREAT thread, feeling inspired for next car camping trip - had no idea anything like this existed!
Heat for the price - currently £19.99 at Go Outdoors (reduced from £24.99 lol)
If you're looking for one to use in a fire, in embers of a BBQ etc, then you'll find plenty of options with longer handles if you search for 'square jaffle iron'.
(Though still fairly limited in the UK unfortunately.)
Ordered one, Why? Christ knows!
Can anyone recommend a stove to go with this at all?

This one seems cheap?

Depends what type of stove you want. The type I use for fishing are this type Fox stove but any type like that are great as they fold down to around the size of a wallet. Then a gas can (can't remember the type it takes but they are around (£5 each) and they last a good few uses. It all depends how much you want to spend. Folding stoves start from around £15 and go up to £100+. I've been using the fox one for a couple of years for kettle and cooking and it's never let me down.

Just checked the link you posted and it's identical to the fox one so I'd definitely recommend that one.
It toasts sandwiches and paninis equally well, although I have tried few variations of the fillings.
Seeing that this sort of thing is so adaptable - I'd look for a stove based on other requirements.
For occasional use, these are good but the gas is expensive...

Or, if you want a bit cheaper gas (very cheap if you can find somewhere that will refill it for you rather than replace - but be VERY careful it's done right if so) - a burner that sits on a Campingaz 907 or similar cylinder - burner cost me £15 and I got a full cylinder second hand from someone that'd got it with something else and already had one for £30 - full cylinder lasts ages even with the decently hot 3kw burner - hotter than a lot of home stoves.
