Was just about to buy this from Zavvi for £45.95 then noticed it was £39.99 on the Currys & PCWorld website. Phoned 0844 561 0000 and picked option 2 to reserve 1 for store pickup.

I noticed in PCWorld they had it listed as £49.99 instore while a short drive to Currys they didn't have the 8gb on display only the 4GB model. Gave the lady my reservation number and they was hidden at the bottom of the mp3 display in the cabinet they had about 4 or 5 left, this was in the Bury(Lancashire) store. I didn't see any other colours apart from black so unsure if it's £39.99 for all colours or just black.

Also 3% Quidco from PCWorld for collect at store sales, making it about £38.
4% from TopCashBack from both Online & Reserve/Collect.

Here's the sandisk website but they only list upto 4GB: sandisk.co.uk/Pro…spx

Agree on the price - been ages - I got it at this price last year. Good player though. Far better than the HD Sony Walkman I replaced....

Is the software responsive on this device? I ask as I'm looking for something to replace the uber cheap, slow MP3 player I use with FM transmitter in my car.

It's fine - got a couple of thousand songs on mine, and the menus are fine.

I upgraded the firmware, and powering on is now slower, but apart from that it's fine.

Thanks, rep for that. Roughly how long does it take to start up?

Think it was a couple of months ago then went back to £49.99, only recently I've seen Currys/PCWorld selling them for £39.99 online.

As for the software it's quite responsive, takes about 5 seconds to start up. I was going to buy a Shuffle/Zen Stone but eventually settled for the clip.

"The interface is luckily not as slow on the Clip as it is on the Stone Plus, in fact it is pretty fast and responsive. Music navigation is by means of ID3 tags like artist, album etc- scrolling through the list is very fast. Disappointingly, the Clip does not have file folder browsing."

Not a huge amount of time - about 8 or 9 seconds. Before the firmware update, it was probably about half that.

Of course, it might be if I reformatted the device it would go go back to the quicker startup. And once it's on, there's no slowdown in using the device, switching between songs/albums/artists etc.

Good price, now i really hope that pcworld/currys can get the new Sandisk Sansa Clip+ for that price because its even better! Has a microsd slot so is even better option than the fuze lol. Shame its only out in american so far(was announced today ).

Thanks all. Picked up one of these after work on Friday. It's a great little (tiny really) device. Mine only takes a few seconds to boot I'd say. Maybe my experience has been coloured by the extremely slow device it is replacing. Tempted to buy another to use at the gym/running as this will sit in the car.

WOW. It is when you see items priced like this do you realise how overpriced apple's products really are.

....then again apple-tards will be quick to mention that these items have no sense of style, do not give your life meaning, and also do not give you the facade of a personality....which you have to develop yourself.

I'm no Apple tard - I've owned a variety of mp3 players by various manufacturers and the sad state of affairs is that I choose to use my iPod more than any other player, because it's better.

Not because of any other reason. I don't crave style or to belong.

I hate itunes however, it sucks huge chunks.

Not everyone in the world is a stereotype, you know.

Oh I know. I personally have:

Ipod photo
Ipod video
Ipod classic
2nd Ipod classic
Ipod touch 32gb
Iphone 32gb
Second Iphone 32gb

AND my comment was about the general consensus people havethat anything apple is better than all its competitors. It's like the battered wife syndrome with a few where the more they tear out their pockets for the sub-par products by this company the more they feel the product is superior. The reason I post this? well....I used to be one of those people. I have a house full of technology, and I must admit, I have finally come to realise my acer blu ray 6530G is far far better than my powerbook. Why because its more conveniant to use with lots more features and cost less than half the price of the apple counterpart.

Also it aggravates me no end that most of my friends regard this as defecting to the dark side or something. Not to mention the fact that I get suckered into buying these products again and again. As it stands apple handhelds are the only thing I am willing to buy in the future.

In this case he is right though.
The ipod is more of a status symbol, it's nowhere near the best player but is by far the most expensive. This sansa clip is highly rated for sound quality, probably the very best of the smaller players and a decent price.
Personally I just don't get on at all with itunes on windows and the wheel to control the player.

I don't know about the comments of this always being this price, it's well over £40 everywhere else, so voted hot.

Excellent music payer , cant fault mine at all.

I've got the sansa fuse 4gb. I've got to return it as it's developed a few faults. But I'd be happy with a new one as the sound is excellent and use is so easy.

I have the Clip and the 1st gen iPod Touch. Since buying the clip I've neglected the Touch quite a bit! Mainly because the Clip sounds much better than any iPod I've heard before. Great player especially for the price.

Samalian pirates we

Just wondering if anyone has experience of children using these?

My daughters 7th birthday is coming up soon, and I wanted to get her a MP3 player, but wasn't sure how well she would get on with this.

My six year old son got one last christmas and loves it. He finds it easy to use.

just remember guys, if yours breaks you have a 2 year warranty! Unlike apple etc :P.

Its an amazing player, had the 4gb silver and was great. The Sansa clip is classed as one of the best players(in audio quality) and being onpar with cowon s9 (cowon are generally the best). Im about to buy the sansa fuze as id like the microsd slot and want to try the next version, its £68 at pcworld which i dont mind paying cause i can get it today instead of waiting for amazon :P.

Nice little player - and small - perfect for running!

Nice little player - and small - perfect for running!

Been using it for a week now and it's great for the gym, be it treadmill/rower/bike

Here's some pictures showing just how small it is :-D

http://i31.tinypic.com/9u0yty.jpg

8gb is ample room for me at the moment, also supports FLAC and OGG Vorbis :w00t:

I've also read that it doesnt play in folder structure - it only allows you to choose by album, artist or playlist.
Not so great for those who haven't tagged all their tracks (like me - but no enough to put me off!).

I found this open source software that might be up to the job to help you tag your music though (... although there are plenty more out there)
]http//so…ib/

Update: Ok, I've just pickup an exdispaly model (with nasty sticky stuff on the clip from the security device ) for £32. Very pleased.
Whilst it is charging, Ive tested out the headphones supplied with it on my old Samsung Yp3 -and I can safely say the Sansa phones are absolute rubbish. Dont even bother getting them out of the package.

Note: like most tiny form factor players this one has a non replaceable battery. Not an issue for me, but might be for some.

Damned good price and a good product. I posted a deal of the smaller capacity version a while back but got rather frosty reception! ]http//ww…-c/

All things considered for a small device for being active with, it's pretty damned good! I've used the creative stone before but the lack of a clip to fasten it to you that was present in the apple shuffle and this was a real downfall as you had to buy other things to get it to do what it should be doing.

Great find! Heat added

After a days use it is a good little product. The radio is very easy to use and its just SO portable, I love it.

The reason this is on sale is becuase the ]Sansa Clip Plus is due out, which is pretty much the same but with a MicroSD slot and the body is made of more robust plastic.

Now £49.99 onm the website and available for collection only.

They had this on the Gadget show on Monday night and gave it a 5 star rating, which is pretty rare for the gadget show!
