anyone know if this is wroth buying on Blu - Ray from an AV point of view not a "this film is crap" point of view?

Dunno but I read the title as Santa Claus the Blue Movie oO

Review up here

...funnily enough I can't say I've ever seen the film! oO

If you have the DVD then skip this. If not then it's an OK Christmas movie for kids and cheap for bluray. I can't imagine it will gain a lot from 1080. If I remember correctly it looked pretty cheap to start with!

Brilliant Xmas flick! Love this now as much as I did as a kid! Can't say whether the BR will have much improvement compared to DVD though, suppose 6 quid is cheap to find out though! Will buy!

It was a film made in the early 80's in Pinewood, I don't think that it will benefit much from the transfer really although if done properly then some of the colours in it could look incredible.

I would buy it for my folks but unfortunately they don't have a Bluray player. For those who haven't seen it, it's possibly one of the most famous Christmas films out there and Dudley Moore and John Lithgow are both excellent in it.

Best. Eating. Scene. Ever.

X)

Which one, the one where John Lithgow sticks all of the candy canes in his mouth or the one where the kid is eating bread and meat outside on the pavement?

Or the one in the McDonalds?

£3.43 on dvd from lovefilm.com. dunno whether you'll see a huge improvement with the bluray over upscaling the dvd and my kids/missus probably wouldn't notice any difference anyway!

When the homeless kid is given food by the rich girl. For some reason, every time I watch that scene it just looks so satisfying, especially that ice cold Coke he washes the food down with.

Yeah, if the sound effects in that scene are to be believed then that is likely the heaviest piece of bread ever created.

Thanks for this. I've loved this film ever since I was a kid but never seemed to get round to buying it on DVD, so good news that it's available on Blu-Ray at only a couple of quid more than the DVD.

I think a Sunday newspaper was giving the DVD away free last year, cover attached.

Nice reindeer effects but overall doesn't really give you a christmassy feeling (Polar Express does this a whole lot better).

Ohh and there are faaaarrr to many 'elf' jokes for my liking. Now that may just be elfy scepticism. I may be wrong off course. Perhaps I'm in elf denial or I'm just being elfish.

Whatever, if it's your thing....go help your elf to a blu-ray bargain.

aww wow need to get this. I think this is the only real christmasy movie!
This is my childhood movie

I love this movie and always have, but like others have said the blu-ray can't be any better than the DVD...unless they've gone to real effort

Unfortunately the effects don't look any better on blu than dvd. Worth 6quid don't get me wrong but doesn't seem to have been really brought into 21st century.

I don't know, I think the visuals in Polar Express were a little weird for my taste.

I don't like this new age of CG animated cartoons and films. Those chipmunks in the new movies scare the bejesus out of me.

LOL. You will probably want to avoid the new CGI animated feature "Chuffing Chipmunks go Crazy with Chainsaws II".
