likely to get cold, but my santander 123 account is paying for itself
with cashback on water, gas, electric, council tax, mobile phones and sky/virgin tv packages, santander mortgages. 1-3% cashback on direct debit payments.
and upto 3% interest payable on this current account
£1k balance pays 1%, £2k 2%, £3k+ 3%

I also got the credit card that pays 3% on petrol/train tickets & 1-2% on Food/Department store shopping. (These are Fee free until 31st Dec2012, otherwise £24 a year) I've recouped £21 already in 2 months..

Glad to hear someone's getting something back! Normally always just taking.
better to use the quidco link as you get £55 quidco.com/san…nt/
I'm happy with this account
Santander ....... the internet is full of horror stories from this Company - stay well clear is the overwhelming advice I think.

no point mismanaging money ;0) and paying interest (and fees/fines) to the banks, its not hard to keep track of spend with a pen and paper and now even more so with bank apps or internet banking etc..

I have this account and credit card. Just stick all of our diesel and food shopping in the credit card and make a decent little amount on the monthly cashback. It just goes straight into a savings account, earns interest in there and hopefully pay most of our holiday spending money next year. All in all, I've not had a problem and it makes complete sense. Fair play OP.
Santander's online banking was shockingly bad last year. I ended up closing my account as I was fed up with not being able to see the balance make payments etc. It was literally 50% of the sessions I couldn't get in at all and rest would take several attempts. Now with Barclays and their online banking is great and the mobile app even better.

where you putting your password in correctly, I've never had a problem. Santanders apple app if perfect. To be honest i couldn't believe they had created one so well..

Yes there online banking was bad, they put in a procedure to lock the account if you didn't log out. You only realised it was locked the next time you logged in. I (and I think hundreds) complained and I think the issue may have been resolved as I have not had the issue for a month or so but I have no faith in there IT department anymore.
Have to say Santander's on line banking has been spot on for me.
Scary to say but out of all the online banking I do (LTSB, Natwest, Nationwide, Yorkshire Bank, Barclaycard), Santander is the one I have had the least problems with - ie. none!
Natwest I used to have massive issues with, almost first name terms with the support desk!

We joined Santander last year on their 100/200/300 sign up bonus. Just going for the 123 account now for the cashback and the money we'll get from having everything go through

Apart from the recent outage I have found Natwest ok, At least if you kill your browser with Natwest it doesn't lock your account, but if you do lock the account you can unblock it online with backup security questions and not wait 7 business days for a new code to be sent.

The interest rates are better with Santander which is why I have an account but you get charged under funding fees if you don't pay at least £500 per month and they stop your 123 perks as well. I have an account but can't even check my balance on my android phone as they have no app.

It all down to personal choice and experience but the first direct is the bank that most people I have spoken to rate but I don't have an account.
Mobile apps are ok but the functionality is usually limited - NatWest being a prime example.
Santander do have a mobile friendly set up for online banking, I've found it ok.

Had the email earlier today saying we've been accepted and it's all going forwards - happy days. And quidco is showing tracking ok

With our outgoings, their calculator reckons we'll get £121 back a year - excluding interest, so nearly a ton after the account fees.
The credit card is fee free until 31st December , 3% on fuel soon racks it up for me
