Great batteries by all accounts (although many alternatives now, see below), but a very average price.

7dayshop are currently selling at this price, and a month or so ago were selling for £6.

These seem like a bargain alternative - slightly higher rating and only £5 7dayshop.com/cat…055

thanks mate, i hadn't heard of these, but reading up on them, they seem to be exactly what i need for my (seemingly useless without Duracell Ultras) digital camera...

how do these compare to Uniross Hybrio batteries? Are they essentially the same thing?

you are right as far as im aware but what I don't understand is why there is no competition for how long they last any more. The old style rechargeable batteries vary for how long they last dependant on make. Why is there no difference in these new type of rechargeables?

Great batteries but only paid £4.99 for mine from Amazon last month, seems they have hiked the price

I was just gonna ask the same thing:?

AFAIK the batteries sold by Vapextech are the same technology (same factory?)

I seen this at a lower price at amazon.com .

Link??

I only use Eneloop and ]GP Recyko LSD batteries. The GP's perform just as well as the Eneloops (perhaps even slightly better) but they cost 20% less. Useful LSD battery info ]here.

Good price for the Eneloops.

These batteries will not provide more power (and in fact are lower rated, whatever difference that may make) but will simply last longer in your camera without losing their charge.

If you run your batteries down a lot anyway, then from my own experience, I would use a good set of higher rated "standard" rechargeables, say some 2800mAh. I use the Hybrios and my camera (DSLR) battery indicator drops to "half" much quicker with these, but then stays there for ages and ages.

I will be plumping for some of the cheaper alternatives next time I buy, like those i linked or the vapextech ones etc. unless the eneloops are on offer at a similar price.

ordinary rechargeables loose their charge in storage quite quickly up to 45% in a month, these new technology hold it their charge for a long time, after a year should still hold over 80% charge.

Though they are the same technology they may be a lower quality, I bought some branded as Battec they are terrible, they don't last long as the Sanyos also the + terminal is very low and doesn't make contact in some equipment.

The Vapextech ones are EXCELLENT - don't just assume :-(

I have been very happy with vapextech batteries, I have been using them for 5 years (not the hybrio type). I also have some old Panasonic rechargeables which have kept going strong. Uniross have not impressed me over the same time period.

Other than lasting longer, any benefit to these? I have a few batteries which I use a lot (probably recharge every other week) and therefor the fact they will last over a year isnt much of a benefit for me.

Good for radios, torches, and cameras that are not in use often, or are a decent backup set.

Here is an ]interesting comparison

It shows all the "eneloop type" batteries tested perform at quite a similar fashion, while the regular rechargeables show a huge variation with how much charge they maintain over time.

These have an additional benefit, they can sustain higher current draw than regular rechargeable batteries. This means they may be better suited to high power devices like torches or remote control cars. (...so I have read)

there are only 5 manufacturers of this type of battery
lots of "brands" though

Yep I bought a load of GP ReCyko for £3.33 on Amazon, and they seem to preform better than the Uniross hybrio's that I also use.

I said "they maybe" that's not an assumption.

Very true, and it maybe used as a very subtle method of placing doubt in people's minds without so much as the slightest piece of knowledge or evidence one way or another.

Notice I said "maybe" used so that isn't an assumption either.

Odds on people would prefer to hear what experiences they actually have had with a product or it's alternatives, rather than what "they maybe." Maybe I would too

OK so I am going on honeymoon, on a cruise next month with 6 different stops. I am taking my 2yr old Samsung 7mpx camera, now this camera wont so much as switch on with 2 duracell ultras in it but I find charging the batteries a real pain as they self discharge...which batteries would be best??

Well I have been using rechargeable batteries for many years and have found the cheaper brands tend to fail well before the premium ones even if they work just as well to start with I do not include uniross as a premium brand they IMO rubbish.

At least we DO agree on something there!
