Super book. Really good price too
I have the audible version, it's great
Colleague of mine goes on and on about this for past year or so. I’ll give it a shot at this price. Cheers.

Did you go through the link? £2.99 for me.

I won't buy it but I'll add it to my Audible wish list.

I wonder how this all happens in 5,000 years
Last page is coronavirus
Your library probably has the ebook/audiobook version of this. Where I am it's called Libby app (was called Overdrive). Might have to put a hold on the book but worth it.
Been after this for a while at a reduced price, thanks!

Alex, is that you again??

I like the look of this Sapiens book, no Homo.
Incredible book
I thought this was moderately well written but very unscientific. The author paints an occasionally compelling picture of prehistoric humanity from his own imagination and then asserts that this was probably what happened, basically because it sounds plausible. He even goes as far as to fault others for limiting their speculation to the available evidence.

If it was more honestly framed as purely whimsical musings on human evolution then it could make for a thought provoking read. Unfortunately it is falsely presented as popular science.
One of the most important thinkers around atm, although he does lean towards the establishment narrative and doesn't 'push the envelop' enough for me. Still you will not regret reading this or its follow up, Homo Deus.
Read the 12th Planet by Zecharia Sitchin if you ever wanted a book that harmonises evolution religion astronomy and astrology. It will blow you away.

The "establishment narrative" is the best guess based on available evidence made by the most qualified people at the time. Much of it could be wrong. However, the insinuation that people should feel so grossly entitled as to dismiss it based on what feels like a more compelling story is repugnant.

If Yuval or anyone else thinks they have a better idea then that's a great start! Now throw down and present some evidence.

There is no book that can rationalise away belief structures nor offer a belief basis for science. Certainly not one that tries to claim we evolved from aliens living on another planet in our solar system...

The BBC did a documentary on planet X (you can watch on YouTube) which calculated the physics of all the comets etc in our solar system with huge eccentric orbits that have to be held in place by a missing massive body with an eccentric orbit. Nasa have also acknowledged the existance of another planet. With regards extra terrestrial gods Sitchin translated thousands of sumerian cuneiform tablets that proved the sumerians had advanced astronomical and scientific knowledge. How did Neolithic man suddenly start building megastructures that predicted eclipses and equninoxes with accuracies we can't achieve today, never mind lifting 1200 ton building blocks into place in Balbek Lebanon which we can't even do with modern machinery? The established belief structures you mention are the problem.......

There are some as yet unexplained things and therefore aliens.

("unexplained" is generous. Entirely fabricated would be more accurate)

All scholars agree that the Sumerian civilisation appeared like a flame out of the desert in Mesopotamia in 3800bc with no precursors. Libraries, schools, law courts, prisons, mueseums, science labs, hospitals.....ring any bells? The old testament talks about the Nefilim coming down from the heavens in fiery chariots and marrying the daughters of man which is corroborated by Hindu, Egyptian, Jewish and greek scriptures. Heaven = space, Gods = astronauts, fiery chariots = rockets, Nefilim = not homo sapiens. The landing corridor between giza, Jerusalem, Mount sinai, Balbek, heliopolis, Mount ararat is exactly 45 degrees split into 2 sections of 22.5 degrees each.
