have you tried updating the catalyst drivers lately? those helped quiet down my asus 4670.

really? i have the latest version apparently, but doesnt seem to do anything. the fan speed is all greyed out.

after some googling, i'll probably get a zalman fan mate 2 to manually control it.

sorry i didnt mean that i used the control center to slow it down, if thats the impression you got. just that it was quieter after i updated the driver.
thanks for letting me know about this;]http//ww…-ZA

You can’t use a Fanmate with a VGA card as they use tiny 2 pin plugs and the Fanmate accepts the larger 3 pin plugs that motherboards use. You’d need to replace the plug on the VGA fan cable.

note: the fan pin is type '2 mini pins' so it might require some pushing to get it fit in zalman...
edit: anyone with fan noise level issues with this should try the zalman fan mate 2. just installed it and works perfect! quiet pc finally

It's coming up as 48.53 delivery for me. Is it cheaper in Manchester?

This particular card doesn't support CrossFire unlike most 4670s.

Yes.

just sold out, cheers for the info Agharta. hope they get some crossfire ones on at this price. May even get a new motherboard and get a cross fire set up if they do (maybe even a 3 or 4 x crossfire at this price)

Dual 4670s are about 5 or 10% faster than a single 4850 512MB which costs from £80 so it’s not good value.

They have 10 in stock now.

can we unexpire this please - they have more in stock

Hot.

Just bear in mind that Aria treats it as a clearance, and the product comes with only 12 months warranty instead of 24months you are usually getting for Sapphire's products...I have just realised this fact when my DVDRW LG broken down, I would have got a replacement...if I had not been buying this from Aria

I ordered anyway - thanks OP!

Would be nice if they could confirm whether or not it was like the one in the picture, i.e. with native HDMI without the need for an adapter

in the description it says "Tv interface HDTV out" and "Connectivity Dual Link DVI-I, VGA"
which makes me think it does have the HDMI as the other one is dual DVI without VGA.

It says 'Manufacturer code: 11138-13-20R' which is the version with DVI/HDMI/VGA outputs.
You don't need a HDMI adapter.

£54.27 @ scan scan.co.uk/Pro…DR3

And in their specs it says it can be used in crossfire either as master or slave..

If you don't like fan noise you could always opt for the slightly slower 1746Mhz passive cooling 4670 from sapphire scan.co.uk/Pro…ard for around £62

no more noise and i can easily put it to full rpm whenever i need.
at soundless level gpu is 32degrees
motherboard 32degrees
quad CPU 23degrees

just need to connect it in the right way ie color match red and black - yellow is for RPM monitoring hence not needed. ie connect zalman to vga 2 pins and to vga fan but make sure colour matching is correct and push a bit to secure them...and done!

Unfortunately online retailers often get their product descriptions wrong. I have this card, at least the one with the same product code as Aria & Scan (11138-13-20R) and it definitely does not support Crossfire. The image in the Scan link you gave clearly shows that it doesn’t have the Crossfire links at the top of the card. If you look at the specs at Sapphire’s website it omits any mention of Crossfire support although the retail box does say Crossfire support but this is an error which Scan may have replicated. The images on Sapphires site also clearly show the lack of the Crossfire links.

Umm, not sure where you're coming from. Just pulled this off sapphire's website product info for HD4670

[edit] Nevermind, I see now... this model with HDMI onboard doesn't have the crossfire connections... sapphire should really make this clear, because the above comes under the heading 4670 512MB GDDR3.. if you didn't know there are 2 versions you could mistakenly think you could use it in crossfire mode

It is clear on their website but the retail box for this model lists Crossfire support on the front and back which is maybe why Scan erroneously mentions Crossfire support.

You’ve linked to the card with dual DVI which does support Crossfire. This card has DVI/HDMI/VGA and if you follow my link above you’ll see that there is no mention of Crossfire support.
I have this card sitting in a box 3 feet away and there is no Crossfire support; it doesn’t have the Crossfire links which is pretty final. Check the photos at Aria and Scan as they clearly show a lack of the links.

It pays to be cautious as there are so many permutations of cards and they often use different RAM speeds etc.

Thanks for that. I lined up my Fanmate with the fan header on this card and the spacing between the pins was noticeably different so I was very wary of forcing it in; you’re a braver person than me. Did you feel it was risky to push it in? Did you need to use much force?

i guess the noise was too much so was ready to try it having read somewhere else that it worked fine.

the pins wouldnt break anyway - they felt quite hard.
didnt use much force - the spacing wasnt the problem, it was the size of the pins from fanmate vs the connector holes from the fan..but you just need it to get it in enough so it makes contact...

The 4670 is the model I've been planning on getting for the last few months, just not sure whether to get the dual DVI model or the model that has one of each VGA/DVI/HDMI... for ease of use I'm sure the HDMI model will come in handy for output to HDTV so you only need to have the one wire to carry video and sound... but just not sure if I'll want to use crossfire in the future for gaming, so maybe I'd need the dual DVI model instead...
I'll have to think on that one.

I decided to stump for the 4670 as I have a 3850 now, but wanted the LPCM sound output, I play some games, but not a lot, so the extra £25 for the 4770 wasn't really worth it for me.

Just got an email to say its been shipped
