Nice price. Someone is selling one in the FS/Ft section - £150!

Nice:thumbsup:

3% quidco too and Novatech are quick payers: I received my cashback in under a month.

Just don't use Paypal, and you'll be fine

Quality card. Hot!!

anyone know of anywhere to compare this with other cards

I find this very useful if you want to see how your card compares performance-wise with this or other cards:

Older card design with the noisy (er) fan. Still cracking card for the money.

OP here. Just got 'word' from the 'street' that the 'ATI Radeon 4870 will have a price drop to $149 from $199' very shortly. What impact that will have on UK prices and when, remains to be seen. The price of this deal may already include part of any pending price cut, or not. So, unless you want this card now, my advice would be to hold on for another week and see if any official price cuts are announced.

There's a article yesterday on release log all the ati cards are dropping so wait a few more days and the price and selection will be better and for this reason its cold.

Why is this hot when you can get the 1gb version for £20 more, which will be faster for most people who have larger screens (higher res)?

Euh, probably because the 4870 1Gb will be faster but only noticeable on about 4-5 games, by peoples that game on 22+ inch screen at 1920x1200 resolution with max quality and 4xAA. For everybody else, they will get 60+ FPS on all games currently on the market, or for a couple of games, the might need to turn down AA to 2x.... So yeah, the 1gb version will allow the buyer to brag that he gets 137 FPS in benchmarks rather than 112... Big deal. That's more than sufficient for 95% of peoples. In fact a 4830 is probably more than sufficient for 90% of peoples.

But yes, if you have the spare £20 and want the power, by all mean buy the 1Gb. But this one is still a good deal and plenty poweful enough.

Down to £143.74 now.
