Ive spent some time looking for a decent graphics card at around £50 with low power consumption. Ive come up with this as the best option. You can get the radeon 4670 (very similar card) for around this price also. The radeon 4650 is available at c.£10 less but you get alot of bang for your buck for the extra £10

Hope it helps - I posted an ebuyer value pc and have seen the dell deal posted today and believe this would be ideal for those machines which both only have 300w PSUs and no dedicated graphics

Probably not, but are you sure your motherboard will take a PCI-E card? Nearly all P4 motherboards I've come across have AGP slots.

The card also comes with a full height bracket. (as shown in the pic)

People might want to take into consideration that £10 more buys you a HD5670 DDR5 512mb which from a gaming point of view has a fair bit more clout. If you only want graphics for HD video save £17 and buy this.

Very good info on gfx cards people. Thanks.

Don't all HDMI ports carry sound?
If some don't, then that's lame.

It states it contains a 350W power supply so you should be ok on power requirements - the one thing it doesn't state is the motherboard / free PCI-e ports. Have a look to see if you have a PCI-e x16 available (google image search gives some examples of what they look like) and you have some space around it (IE no other cards blocking it up).

Its a DisplayPort so it should...
"DisplayPort can emit HDMI video and audio using passive adapters connected to Dual-mode ports, and supports HDCP content protection used in the HDMI standard."

Thanks

ATI cards do,

I would buy this graphics card from lambda-tek.com/com…810

Much better card and only 8 times the cost!

Quick Question: Would it be possible to use the VGA with the DVI at the same time for multi-monitor use @ different resolutions?

is this suitable for shuttle PCs?

Should be. Low profile means that you can fit it into small case. Open your case up and see if you have space and slot available.

Can anyone tell me if this will work with a Dell Dimension C521 or if it'll be wasted do to the age of the PC?

TIA

Yeah I know what low profile means, its just that some of these cards still dont fit shuttle PCs.

Should not be a problem.

Would work using low profile bracket. You would need another bracket for VGA connector. Both are supplied with card.

Cheers, I may take a punt then.

I have an old Dell GX280 I want to have multi-monitor support on, I am pretty sure its PCI-E and only has room for a half height card, but I am not sure how a VGA, HDMI and a DVI would squeeze on a low profile bracket, anyone with any suggestions?

I could probably just do with a cheap half height Dual DVI card probably.

good spot ... hovering over the purchase ....... media centre case .. onboard graphics of 4200 ... only light gamiing on a 720p plasma...

how much more grunt will i get , and whats this card liek compared to my old 8800gt 512mb i had in an old pc ?

just found a handy review on it ... with a nice option

"The graphics card also has support of CrossFireX which will allow you to run two graphics cards together for added performance in a supported motherboard. One other feature that adds to the value of graphics cards in this segment is the use of ATI's hybrid CrossFireX. This technology allows you Crossfire a low to mid range graphics card with an integrated graphics processor that is built into a motherboard chipset. The use of this technology can improve the gaming quality of your system, as well as increase the performance in daily computing tasks."

Hi

I have a HP m7061.uk. It currently has an ATI radeon x600pro 256mb which is ok with Windows 7.
Would this show a marked improvement ? Would it fry the power supply ? Is it a straight forward swap ?

Any feedback is appreciated,

Riyaz

how old is the x600 riyaz ? but at a good guess id say it would beat it easily ... what res do you game at ? what you lookign to do with it ?

how does this compare to a nvidia 8800 gts?

My understanding:
There are two brackets. One with DVI and HDMI + another one with VGA. So you need two slots. I cannot figure out how many monitors/TV you can run at the same time. Card with display port supports 3 discrete outputs, but this one does not have display port and I cannot find anything.

This one is noticeably slower than 9600GT. As far as I remember 8800GT/GTS is faster than 9600GT.

the geforce GT 240 is also a good low powered card. preforms slightly better than this gpu too.

No HDMI makes this poor HTPC for large screen tv's ----- why mess with adapters when for similar money you can get a card with an HDMI port.

But it does have an HDMI port.

Will this work in my HP m7061.uk ? I do not want to cook the power supply ! My setup is :

AMD athlon 64 2.2ghz
2gb ram
256mb ati radeon x600pro

I have the standard hp m/b and power supply. Is it worth spending £50 on this card, I do not game. I just wanted a slightly better graphics card which works with windows 7 and has hdmi out. Any feedback is appreciated.

It really doesn't. Google search this part number: 11167-04-20R and click on any retail site in the results and it will say DVI, DisplayPort and VGA

The overview page on ebuyer correctly says DP but then the specification page wrongly lists it as HDMI. Techpowerup's review wrongly states HDMI despite their photo clearly showing DP...

Here is photo as found on the OverclockersClub review that also shows DP...

ebuyer description states "1 x HDMI - 19 pin HDMI Type A". Is there more than one type of HDMI port?
