ahh crapola, I just bought the 249.98 one this morning from novatech. I've emailed to see if they will price match ...heat added OP.

there are 2 versions of this card well 3 if you count the 4gb one, maybe you bought the faster one.

Not sure why this has gotten cold. Good deal of your looking for a 480. Heat added.

The Nvidia fanboys/girls must have gotten to it first

For the same price, the 1060 beats the 480 in the majority of games. In the few DX12/Vulkan titles the 480 only beats the 1060 by the slightest of margins. All the while the 480 uses more power than the 1060 (150W vs 120W).

For me the 480 needs to be priced around (max) £200 for the 8GB card for it to be considered instead of the 1060.

this is the slower out both of the 8gb ones

Sure the 1060 is faster in older games.

But in games from this year, the performance is very similar or the 480 is faster - look at Forza Apex, Gears of War: UE, Warhammer: TW, DOOM and Deus Ex. This trend will continue when AMD releases drivers for Battlefield 1 releasing next month.

The only difference afaik is the clockspeed. Which can easily be overclocked to 1340 to match the Nitro+ OC version.
