Check the sapphire site for more info (link below) Will def be buying this mobo in the next couple of months just bought an phenom II 940 so can't justify spending any more money just yet lol.

sapphiretech.com/uk/…p=6

Hmmm VERY tempted!

I have an AMD Opteron 185 just now on a DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR with 2Gb ram and a Sapphire 4870 1Gb graphics card, time for a upgrade I think!

Where's the best place in the UK to purchase a phenom II 940 black edition CPU to go with this motherboard?

Any recommendations on the best ram for overclocking on this board with phenom II 940 black edition?

I bought mine from ebuyer for £199 there down to £195 there now with free delivery, always used ebuyer for expensive items and never had any problems, aria.co.uk sell some good pc-8500 ram a 2x2gb bundle would be best or 4x2gb if you got the money

not bad for £50 aria.co.uk/Pro…921

Hmmm, thanks ryanreece777!

Going to sleep on it, but I think I am going to go for it! :P

AMD FTW!

skykid3 you wana sell your graphics card?

nah sorry, only just got the sapphire 4870 1Gb in the last month

had just sold a Zotac 8800GT 512Mb Amp! edition which was my previous card

Have to say am very impressed with the 4870 on my Ilyama 24" monitor @: 1920x1080 (it was posted on here in the last month as well)

Thanks, great deal.would buy this one rather Gigabyte *****-DS4H

Can anyone help me find deal on a micro form am2+ mainboard, this is good but can't fit it in my case, it's an antic 2480.

Thanks

abit A-N78HD (nVIDIA GeForce 8200 MCP78S) (TDP 125W)
abit A-S78H (AMD 780G / SB700) (TDP 125W)
DFI LanParty JR 790GX-M2RS (AMD790GX / SB750) (CF 8Х+8Х PCI-E 2.0) (TDP 140W)
Foxconn A7GM-S (AMD 780G / SB700) (TDP 125W)
Foxconn A7GM-S 2.0 (AMD 780G / SB700) (TDP 125W)
Jetway HA06 (AMD 780G / SB700)
Sapphire Hybrid CrossFire 780G PI-AM2RS780G (AMD 780G / SB700)

any of these.Difference between south bridges (750 -> 700) negligible.

I had there last Pure series Am2 board it was a enthusiasts board that was a very high spec with all high end features and it was the best looking board i have ever seen and very expensive but was very unstable and was very fussy about ram i would give this a miss it maybe a good price but when it gives you a ball ache it wont be worth it .

Sapphire don't issue bios updates very often so if its not playing nice with your component's don't expect a new bios to be out to fix incompatibility problems.Do yourself a favour go with another make Asus,Gigabyte or MSI you only have to look how many other Sapphire boards are in the range to show you what support will be like i will bet that this is there only board Sapphire should stick with Graphics cards.

I have looked for a real world review of this board but i cant find one anywhere if your thinking of going for this and a the phenom2 cpu you must be mad do yourself a favour and get Intel as this board is out of date now as its using ddr2 even though it supports Am3 cpu's which have the ability to use ddr3 if you have to have AMD wait a couple of months for ddr3 as everything will be jumping to that soon.

Yeah, I tried to find an online review of the sapphire motherboard and came up with nothing

cheers mikerj for the lambda tek link!

I would rather get AMD, but thanks polly69 will leave the upgrade for a few months and see what happens

I have an AMD Opteron 185 just now on a DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR

That was the best motherboard of its class at the time. I switched to Intel for my next upgrade after and the only thing I've missed is the superlative quality of DFI's AMD boards.

That link say's £184 inc VAT then you got to add P&P

You can get it from here for £183 delivered povdirect.co.uk/Inu…575

Have to be mad to buy a phenom in my opinion, unless you already have an AM2 board, Q6600 isnt much slower, overclocked it beats it, and its £40 cheaper for the cpu and around the same price for a decent board.

Isn't this board overkill if you intend to use a separate gpu with it? Superb board for a media centre as the 790 chipset kicks ass.

Looks like a great board, but I really want a matx intel board with onboard hd graphics.

Hot anyway.

Chris

i am looking at upgrading at the moment, i just need a board / chip /memory and a new chassis all the rest i have and it is compatitble.... whats the best to get for a budget of around £300. I used to build them but its been 2 yrs plus since i last had a go and the market has changed immensely

Excellent choices.

I'd swap the Motherboard for a Gigabyte GA-EP45C-DS3R for an extra £20, simply because it can cope with DDR2 *or* DDR3 Memory. Gives you an easier upgrade path to Intel i7.

If you have a look on scan.co.uk/tod…ly/ before noon today, they have the following bundle listed near the top of the page for just £224 !

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 SLACR, Kentsfield Core, S 775, 2.40GHz, 1066MHz, 8MB Cache, OEM+Far Cry 2
+ Asus P5KPL SE, Intel G31, Sok 775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 1066(OC)/667/800, SATA 3Gb/s, ATX
+ 4GB Corsair (2x2GB) TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-18

Couple it with the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Heatsink from the above post.

Note that if you're upgrading from an older system, you may well need to replace your PSU along with the above !

I'd suggest the Hiper Osiris on Scan/todayonly (link in Nom's post) for £69. I think you may have to reconsider your budget, or go for a lower spec than everyone's suggesting.
