I got one of these the other day. It is enormous, it won't fit in my case because the card is too tall (not long)...
I have mainly been looking at nvidia cards can anyone tell me if this is a good deal and what it's nvidia equivalent is in terms of power is this a good 1440p or 1080 144hz card? Thanks

interesting! I've got an older case but it fits my R9 270 in easy. You think it will be ok with this?

I'm far from an expert. If like me you have a 1440p freesync monitor this is pretty much the best option for the price (VEGA and 1070ti and 1080ti a very different price bracket!) From fresh a 1060 6GB might be the better option, and is probably the equivalent.
Thanks man think I'm going to wait. 1070 FE can be sniped on nvidia website for £379

had an issue with thermaltake v1 core itx case I use for testing, getting the card in was tough, its longer, wider, taller than a sapphire rx 580 pulse i had previously

The problem is how tall the shroud is beyond the backplate height and how close it is to the backplate. Some cases have the fold in the backplate sticking out the back of the case (if that makes sense) and it means it might butt up against the case door frame. This was going into a Corsair Air 240 case which should be fine. I'll try and get a photo to show you later on. Have a look at your existing card and the height of the shroud vs. the backplate.

yeah I nearly pulled the trigger on that when in stock too. I actually prefer Nvidia in some ways as prefer there game optimisation software and CUDA more useful (plus GPU better in Linux) but the premium you pay for a decent Gsync monitor over a decent freesync can nearly buy you a console or lots of games on top! I'm no fan boy but just buy what is best for me...in this case this card.

I had 1440p 144hz monitor and my 1070 was struggling wen playing and recording now I got 1080p 144hz monitor and am doing fine if ur into fps games like PUBG, Fortnite, CSGO and want fast response then go for 1070 and 1080p 144hz.

Worth noting that you don't need an AMD card to be able to use a Freesync monitor, Nvidia cards will work fine just without the Freesync capability, which isn't going to be that big a problem with powerful cards like 1070 and especially 1080 as you would probably be hitting a pretty regular 60fps+, unless playing at 4k.

I have 2 freesync monitors in dual screen and while I do have an AMD card, I would swap it for a 1080 in a heartbeat if I could get a good price on one as the AMD card I have (Fury) has odd compatibility problems with certain games and the worst coil whine I have ever heard on a desktop gpu....

I posted this a while back, been the same price for a while. hotukdeals.com/dea…885

These cards should drop to this sort of price whilst in stock.
What would this cost if it couldn't mine cryptos? £199?

Cheers. Yeah I knew that but this was also kind of my budget and I might use it on the 4K freesync monitor I have so may well be of use then! Good advise for others though but 1080 is a lot more then I want to spend..£300-350 max really. Plus my case is older and though I've upgraded the fan think I'd need a knew PC to justify a 1080 or even 1070TI.

Yes RRP last but if it wasn't for cryptos than it would be at least £200 by now
I saw a RX 480 New for £150 awhile ago

I regret not buying it
Honestly, any point upgrading from my 290x? For 1080p only.
