Good card but too much money right now given the 5500 XT should beat it and 5600 is not a lot more, RX 590 is usually about this price too. I wouldn’t pay this much for a 580 today enough though it’s still a very competent card.
5500xt for around same price, same performance, and 55w less power consumption makes this a dubious deal. Unless you really need that 8gb.

I was told the 8GB is a huge plus? I prefer having more memory unless you think it's needed?

It might depend on what you're doning. As I understand it not many games can make use of the extra memory, so not that important to gamers. Content creators/movie editors might benefit depending on what they're doing and what programmes they're using.

The 8GB cards are better/faster than the 4GB RX 580 cards but not if it’s £60 more (the 4GB cards have been around £100-110 before). It’s debatable whether you need 8GB with an RX 580 - you will likely end up core limited before you run out of VRAM.
I got a MSI Radeon RX 580 8GB Armor OC card a while back for about this price point and can't complain. It gets a little loud sometimes. I think these are broadly comparable. If you can wait for prices to go down post pandemic I probably would.

It's still available for £155 from Currys/PC World via eBay. Don't know enough about GFX to know if this is better or worse but it's a consideration.

The Sapphires are much better than the MSI. The MSI Armor is widely known to have one of the weakest coolers (if not the) of RX Polaris series cards.

Ah good looking out! I don’t actually use it for gaming so it’s probably fine for me but hopefully this will be useful for other folk to know.
The fact that these are still around £160 makes me really happy that I managed to get a nitro+ rx590 for £175 during the ebay deals last year.

Considering a cheap 1660 is closer to £200 and a 1650 is inferior and around £150 this is still a good price for these!
Thanks for posting @clearingmyhouse and welcome to hotukdeals
It feels strange that this I only £20 cheaper than when I bought my 8gb Rx 580 over 18 months ago. Anxiously waiting to see when we could get some next generation mid-tier cards out for some better deals in the £200-350 range

A few years ago this was a fantastic card but it's outpaced now.
Realtime is a part of VIP in Warrington also owners of Zoostorm etc
Not sure this is a good buy. In a year or so this could struggle with some new AAA titles I think. It's a pretty old card.

It’s more a testament to how good a card it is really imo. They’ve been used extensively for gaming, mining, compute, etc and offer good value. One of the best cards AMD came out with in recent years.

Can you provide a link for a 590 card at this price?

No I can’t - the card is basically EOL and I wouldn’t recommend a 590 either. I’d suggest buying a 5500 XT or 5600 which are current models, run cooler and cost about the same.

£160 for this card is a lot when the 4GB ones often come up £40-50 cheaper and it’s debatable you can utilise the full VRAM.
FWIW, this particular RX580 (the Sapphire Pulse 8GB) is also one of the very few MAC compatible GPUs you can use to upgrade an older Mac Pro... albeit without boot screen but metal works.. I'd imagine this card will hold value quite well....

About £50 too much , these were good value when they were £100ish a couple of months back , now they are £158 the GPU market has better options for little more money, namely any 1660 super , and the 5500XT

I've got a pulse, it used to hit around 2400rpm in heavier games, like ARK, it now hits over 3000rpm. Both speeds were what I'd consider loud.

What I don't understand about people on this page is the logic. 1660 Super is around £50 more. That is 33% more than this card. We are not talking about £200 cards - we are talking for THIS price point. Is there anything around £160 which is better than this? If so can you link it as that is my budget. If I stretch to £210 - then someone will say "for a little bit more money you can have xxx".

Just what I was thinking. The 4GB 5500XT (which is close to this price) doesn't perform as well as the 580. The 8GB 5500XT does indeed perform better, at a cost!
