Not stellar pricing but considering where recently VEGA has been on pricing is current best IMO.

OCUK have stock and is also £499.99+P&P, link.

The better deal could be PowerColor RX VEGA 56 with the 2 games at OCUK, £428.99+P&P, link.

The other deal the could be considered is Gigabyte RX VEGA 64 Limited Edition with 2 games at Ebuyer for £514.97 (free P&P), link.

Quidco gave me ~£6.44 cashback for purchase on Ebuyer plus I had an account specific offer of £5 bonus cashback available. IMO the Gigabyte deal card has netted to ~£465 as the games are worth ~£40 and accounting the ~£10 cashback.

Gigabyte offer 3yrs warranty, 1st year with etailer and 2nd/3rd year is UK RMA centre. Also discussions with Giga-Man (Gigabyte rep) on OCUK highlighted as long as stock cooler is replaced for warranty claim it would be honoured if water block had been used.

Jesus you really hate amd, every posted deal has you spouting off.

If someone has invested in a free sync monitor and let’s just say it’s 1440p they will be interested in this deal which is decent and cheap comparable to any/all other retailers prices for vega 64

If you aren’t on freesync it gsync, then by all means take time to research your next gpu purchase and not take the comments section of HotUKDeals as bible

heat for it coming out! I have an rx 470 at the moment but would prefer to get a 2nd hand 980ti for around £300 than this. RX470 was £150 when new and r9 290s were selling for same price on ebay so made sense to get new one.

Why not a 1070 instead of a 980ti

There are reports that the Fall Creators Update to Windows has really boosted the performance of Vega, some tech YoutTubers have seen 10-20% gains in FPS. If it's true (I'll wait for the Gamers Nexus verdict) and they can actually start getting some aftermarket cooler cards to market at a reasonable price then maybe Vega might not be such a dud after all. Personally I hope they sell like hot cakes, I quite fancy a used one in a couple of years :-)

I did resist buying VEGA. I bought a MSI GTX 1080 EK X and owned it for ~1mth. I liked how nVidia boost 3.0 was clocking card to ~19xxMHz without me manually doing anything. What I couldn't get on with was lack of variable refresh rate usage. If I sold off my MG279Q and went for a PG279Q I was adding a lot more to puchase, besides the premium of G-Sync vs FreeSync.

I was shocked the driver panel on nVidia still looks like how it was when I had a 8800GTX . I also didn't like how there were no equivalent options in drivers I may want like on AMD. I did try Fast Sync and limiting frames to gain "pseudo syncing" but it never seemed right to me.

I was lucky in that I made no loss selling the GTX 1080, so got the chance to experience it and move to VEGA knowing it was better choice for me.

I just bought an RX 580 4Gb, I was tempted towards the 1060 3Gb so many times as the deals and availability were better, but every time I hovered over the Buy Now button a little voice at the back of my head whispered "But Freesync.."

Why not a 1070 instead of a 980ti

My local gumtree has had 980ti between 250 and 300. Ebay they seem to go asap when below 300. But gumtree has 1070s around 330 so I would try and save 60 quid on the 980ti. I bought myself a huge workstation which has a 1000w psu thinking I would get a beefy old card but ended up getting a new efficient one but might as well use it!

I reckon the RX 580 4GB is a good choice. If I was honest I was too quick and perhaps not thought it through when I sold off my Fury X.

I had thought 4GB would limit it's longevity but TBH it probably wasn't going to. You will find on OCN a support thread run by author of HWINFO, I asked ~1yr ago regarding VRAM usage shown in monitoring app it is an allocation rather than actual usage. AMD nor Nvidia expose actual RAM usage via their drivers.

It's all good looking at benchmarks, etc, etc. In essence this experience I recently had with selling off Fury X and getting GTX 1080 has taught me is what matters more is the experience you have whilst gaming.

I have spent ~150hrs+ on SWBF (Ultra preset 1440P) whilst using the Fury X with FRTC set to 88FPS and FreeSync enabled and it was a vastly greater gaming experience than GTX 1080 @ ~1975MHz with no V-Sync enabled. The GTX 1080 will throw out astonishing uncapped FPS IMO but it was not always buttery smooth as Fury X with FreeSync.

I couldn't find frame rate cap in nVidia control panel, so I had to use a 3rd party app like RivaTuner to cap it. I set cap and Hz of monitor in sync and enabled V-Sync and could note it was not as smooth as Fury X with FreeSync, every so often there was some odd hitch to make me think "WOT!?".

I also re-tried Lords of the fallen on GTX 1080, I have completed this on Fury X, so believe have good experience on how it was on that. Again the GTX 1080 without variable refresh rate tech was not a match for Fury X IMO.

Like I said before G-Sync definitely commands premium. When I looked into getting a G-Sync sceen it also seemed FreeSync has wider choice.

So for me it was clear to get VEGA.

I've been waiting for the custom Vega cards, and they are supposed to be coming at the end of October.

With all the delays though it's actually got to the stage where I'd be astonished if they actually do. So sick of it all. But nevertheless, I have been waiting this long..... I'm going to hang on.

Ah man.... the limited edition Vega 64 with Prey and Wolfenstein II is pretty tempting though..... ffs.

Must resist!

VEGA is pretty much locked for bios mod, there are registry mods to SoftPowerPlay that allow some tweaks which are not available in OS SW. Potentially the reg mods could be blocked from a driver. So I felt buying V64 was better than having a V56 and later finding any mods I may have done to get it to V64 levels being blocked. Even then V56 has a price/performance edge over V64.

The AIB cards should improve on cooling aspect compared with reference blower. As I'm going water cooled the ref PCB was a sound purchase as I doubt AIB cards will gain water blocks.

It's going to be interesting what goes on with 1070 Ti entering the market. To me it seems there is no need for that card, pricing it is also gonna be odd/tricky as well. If too close to 1070 then no one buys that, if too close to 1080 then who will buy that, if it sits in the middle it's gonna eat sales from each of those SKUs as well IMO.

Not done mining ever, but as I understand it GDDR5 is favoured over GDDR5X for that. So will the miners go for 1070 Ti? There is no doubt nVidia cards do have a power efficiency which AMD don't seem to touch even though each GPU release there is marketing to say there are gains.

What's my r9 380 4gb worth?
Ebay isn't clear, but I'm hoping more than £100?

Original Poster

Bidvoy average £122.

Quick scan of past recent ebay sales is showing IMO min £100, max £150, so would agree with Bidvoy average.

Winters coming brrr

Not only do these have a warming effect but protect from nVidia assault .

The negs are unfair. This is a good post, if you want Vega at this point in time.

I agree. I have seen in the past people state voting should be based on product and price, voting based on if you do or do not like the product is also not valid.

At times we'll see mis-prices gaining heat where no-one has hope in hell of even receiving product.

Ahh well you can't when'em all .

Graphics cards are pretty tribal, like most games related hardware. I guess it's part & parcel.

Still a helpful post with some good deals.

I don't hate on AMD, I dislike bad pricing and bad deals.

499.99 for a card that doesn't match up to a card 60 quid cheaper? No AIB options? Blower?

There is a reason why this deal is cold, and not hot. Because it is a bat deal.

Even if someone *was* on FreeSync, this is still a bad deal.

isnt this card like 500 bucks in the us, not a good deal

Makes no odds to me, just how I see it

If you want an RX Vega 64, then this is the cheapest. I don’t, waiting to see what comes next year from nvidia and amd and want to avoid mining prices

For my sins I have a 3440x1440 freesync screen, so I want Vega 64. This is the best deal I've seen for ages.

Newegg / Amazon US both seem to show $569.99, 570 USD to GBP = ~£432, then we have VAT (+20%) = ~ £518

That's fair enough, but Vega 64 doesn't do a great job at 4k. The 1080ti can barely handle 4k 60fps for the majority of games, and many reviewers give the 1080ti as the entry point into 4k gaming. And even then, many games fall under 60fps. 4k is just really taxing right now.

Yeah, I wouldn't argue with that. I think 1440p seems a bit of a sweet spot for Vega 64. Just need custom cards to get a move on!

I mean, we're at a point where it's been so long since the release of VEGA and no custom AIB cards have come out, I'm quite concerned.

Volta is rounding the corner and we may get a release date on that, so it seems AMD are just very far behind.
