Sapphire Toxic R9 280X 1070 MHz PCI Express £226 Amazon.fr

Seems like the best price I could fine. It's currently £300 on Amazon.co.uk. Gets good reviews and supposed to be good for overclocking.

I can't say too much more as I'm no expert on these things but this seems far cheaper than anywhere else in Europe.

I await all the 970 related replies and the noobs with posting links to the 280(non x) for like £150.

You can get a 290 for less.

ianbeany - can you post some links for better deals. That's genuine, if I can get something better for less I'll cancel my order as I didn't want to spend this much.

THERE YOU GO

although personally Id put the extra 30 quid or so and get a 970

Free games with that 290 too..

madnug, I don't think that's the same card.

11221-22-20G - defo a different card. £230 on amazon.

You'd have to be crazy to pay £200+ for a 280x

ah yes, you r right, 850mhz/1000mhz boosted

Madnug - yes they got the wrong picture. I checked the product code as I had a bit of a shock at £214!

Whilst it may be the best price for this specific card, it's not a good price at all for what you're getting. You can get a 290X for under £300 now and a 770 for under well £200. If you're really desperate for a Sapphire 280X for some reason, even their own higher end model is just a couple of quid more on the UK Amazon.

Aretak - Any advice is appreciated, I'm just trying to get the best card for the cash and as this is so much cheaper on Amazon.fr I thought it was a good deal.

Way over priced

I've just bought a MSI Radeon R9 280 GPU. Will this be enough to play current releases/releases 2-3 years at 1080p, 60fps? I also have 8gb RAM and an AMD FX -8350 CPU which has some big over clocking potential apparently

This is not a good deal, AMD have announced pricecuts for the 290 and 290x so the 290s will be this price if not less very soon.

Thnx for advice just cancelled order.

You seem to be missing the point - I'll try and spell it out for you

280X CARDS ARE NOT GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY NOW WHEN YOU CAN GET MUCH BETTER CARDS FOR JUST A LITTLE MORE

They already are right now

Get one of those knockdown gtx 770s if you want a decent card for under £200. But right now the new gtx 970 for £270ish is a great buy, so if you can stretch to that you'll have a great card which should last you some time. You can also get a gtx 760 for about £140 now, but you'd be tempted to replace that in a year or so. Or wait until AMD release their new line of cards and nvidia release their gtx 960 in a couple of months.

Only a fool would buy this now. Yes, good card, but this isn't even that cheap even before the 970 came out. Seen it under £200 on Amazon Warehouse loads of times, and the 290 Tri-x on there for £210. It's still a good card, but if you want this kind of performance get a gtx770 for around £170.

I went through Flubit and was offered the Palit JetStream for £235 and that will murder the poor 280X for that money id be looking for the 290 if i must have a AMD card or theirs a Asus 760GTX on here for £140 which is around 10% slower than the 280X in most games but in some it beats it and the Asus is a great overlocker. I have a 760gtx and its been a great card and maxes out all games at 1080p so if thats your resolution you might aswell get that but for futur proofing it has to be the 970 that has destroyed all the cards a overclocked 970 is as fast as the 980.

Are you trying to be funny or what... He linked a xfx290 DD for £215 delivered. Don't tell me: it is not a 280x.
