Seems like AMD are slowly restocking the 500 series.

Thanks, ordered. Twice the price of the deal I didn't get last month but that put me in the mood for Ultra graphics on Project Cars 2

Look, it's not the price you'd pay for it if you had a time machine, but at the moment, it's a good price.

If you are looking to play 1080p games and you prefer AMD's cards, this is a reasonable price.

This could also be a sign that the mining craze is slowing down, as these cards were gobbled up.

The restock dates got pushed back a bit. the 580 4gb seems to have been restocked first.

Given that amazon probably now has between 2 to 10k orders for the nitro+ it will be interesting to see what happens

Thanks

They're coming back!!!

quick question, but arent the 1070's around this price range the better deals?

You can find 1070s around £229? Are you not talking about 1060s?

I had my preorder with AF for 2 months got sick of waiting, ended going with nvidia .

Doubt you'll get a 1070 for this price.

sorry! I meant the 1060 6GB not the 1070. You are very right, you won't get a 1070 for this price haha or anything close to it

Indeed I am, the 6gb version, my mistake. Same question applies though.

They are about the same performance wise. So both about the same value for money. At least until you decide you want a freesync or gsynch monitor.

I personally prefer the NVIDIA offering at this price point, but some people have FreeSync monitors already and some people prefer AMD cards.

If you are card agnostic, take a look at some reviews.

Here's a midlevel AIB for the 1060 6gb:

techpowerup.com/rev…tml

You'll notice that you can plug 16.5% more in OC headroom.

Here's a good AIB for the 580.

techpowerup.com/rev…tml

Both of the reviews use the 'stock cards' as comparison.

You'll notice 580s don't OC very well, 4.4% for this Nitro card.

You'll also notice they had to do some tweaking with bios settings to get a better result over the stock experience.

All in all, the cards are pretty neck and neck, with the 1060 6GB pulling ahead with a higher OC.

But it's not that much difference, it's close enough to recommend either card at the right price. You could make a reasonable argument that the increased power usage of the 580 makes its cost of owernship higher.

You may have some people suggesting that the AMD card 'gets better over time' #finewine etc. Don't be oversold on these claims, as they are often misleading and exaggerated greatly.

I do wish crypto mining would move away from GPUs and to 100% ASICs so they can stop distorting the supply and demand, the price and the second hand market.

Who wants a used mining card with no warranty? Who wants a cheap, lightly used GPU from a guy who has stopped gaming?

Unfortunately, you never know who has 'stopped gaming' and who has 'nearly run the card into the ground'.

I'd be careful buying these off eBay, in the past I bought a GPU for a damn good price, but only checked the feedback history of the seller after to find they were selling alot of coins and cards, the card died 2 months later.

I could have been screwed at that point but I contacted the manufacturer via email which ended in them offering to replace it for me free of charge even though I had no reciept, about 5 weeks later they sent me a brand new sealed one after sending them the dead card, it was a factory OC'd version of the card with better cooler which was a real bonus.

Edit: Manufacturer in question was Powercolor which put me into contact with their parent company TUL to actually get the replacement.
