Looks like a very good deal. Carbon fork, disc brakes and tiagra, all for £400. Hard to say no to that. Colour scheme isn't going to be to everyone's taste. But I would be all over this if only I could afford one now.
great deal
stonking price . Just ordered .Cheers
lot of bike for the money, good training/winter hack/touring setup - in fact, you might get away with 28mm tyres, like Schwalbe Tyrago's, so might make a cyclocross setup too

Full carbon fork, not just the blades.... Can't go wrong for that money with disc brakes. If the brakes are terrible its not that expensive to change pads or the whole thing.
Very good spec for the money. According to Bike Radar weight is 9.78 kg. They gave it 3 stars when it was priced at £749 -very different ball game at this price. No small sizes for me and not wild about the paint job but this is a real bargain for some.

Bargain!! The brakes are terrible, but Avid BB7s are available for £42 from an auction website and you've got a cracking bike!
If this was available last month I would have got it over the Planet X London Road I built up...
I've been umming and arrring about getting a road bike coming from a mountain bike world, this just made me pull the trigger and give it a shot, ordered... Now I think I'll have to order some funky clothing to go with the colour scheme!
A road bike with disc brakes?

A road bike with disc brakes? Why?

It's the future of cycling. UCI has already lifted the ban on disc brakes in professional racing. Soon it'll be standard in all the bikes sold. After that, probably wireless gears.
Took the plunge, been after a road bike for a while, was edging towards a cyclocross bike so this seems perfect in that you can fit wider tyres.

Think it's more to do with manufacturers selling more bikes than anything else.
Thanks, plunged...
Great looking bike, price wise. Downside is the wheels, but even that said they would do.

Predictable stopping in the wet. Fairly easy to set. One less thing to consider when changing a tube. If you have to go down a canal path section - less crud caught.

I wasn't convinced about disc brakes on road bikes either, particularly as there is only so much grip skinny tyres have under braking anyway?! But I have to say my London Road with BB7s and 29er wheels (heavy) brakes more comfortably and in a more controlled manner than my Felt road bike with 105 rim brakes (I think it's 2kg lighter than the PXLR too). The rim brakes do have more feel in the levers though, but this may just be down to the way I set them up?
On a side note if you do plan on upgrading the brakes on the Saracen, I highly recommend Avid BB7s as BB5s were awful to setup and maintain (swapped them after 40 miles).
Excellent deal
Just purchased - ta OP!

Tiagra group set is very rare to find at anywhere near this price range. You'd be lucky to find Sora in this bracket - the basic Claris would be more likely. The Tiagra group set is worth about £200 on its own and gives you 10 speed (Sora = 9, Claris = 8 ) x2 so obviously a greater range of gears and thus enhanced versatilty.

I've been using one of these for a year or so - inexpensive, light, solid and easy to fit and quite adaptable.

Ordered yesterday at 2 o'clock, bike turned up this morning, great service so far..
Ordered mine around 1pm and it arrived about an hour ago! I'm really impressed, the colour is better in the flesh, was a little worried about the pink initially.

Got some SPD's arriving tomorrow morning so ill take it for a spin today once i assemble and get some air in the tyres¬

Thanking thee.
Ordered Mar 10 evening, shipping received Mar 11 at 3PM, but the parcel is still "with sender". The orders must be overwhelming them...

Anyone else on this status?

edit: just received it, 08:30AM must be the wrong tracking number. Weird.

Do you reckon this is the best road bike going for £400?
Got shoes from Wiggle, can anyone recommend pedals or are they ok?

I reckon this is probably the best bike sub 400 in any class.

+1 This is such a good entry into road bikes with the added bonuses of being a cracking commuter/tourer (pannier racks/mudguards) and disc brakes so you can even take it cross country without the fear of losing braking power.

I thought my Felt F95 purchase at £360 in 2014 was unbeatable but this has left that deal for dead. Really not sure why this isn't hotter!?

I would agree, good price, can't go wrong for the that money.

Most bikes this price come with claris or sora. This comes with a full carbon fork, most come with alloy or have carbon blades and alloy steerer. In theory it should be lighter and perhaps absorb more vibration, not sure I'd pay more just to have it but certainly a bonus at this price. You have to pay £1000 to get a Specialised or Cannondale with a full carbon fork.

I've heard sora are good though. I've also seen Cube Pelaton's online with carbon forks that are supposed to be great, for £400
