To be honest, this dish and LNB isn't ideal for motorised use, the dish isn't really big enough and the LNB is not ideal, better to spend a bit more on a bigger dish and a quality LNB.

It would be OK as a fixed dish on Hotbird or Astra 1. for most parts of the UK.

Anyone got any links to sites for this kind of stuff? It's this kind of random technical crap I'd love to know more about, looks like a nice new hobby =)

If you connected the dish to a Sky digibox inside your caravan (get one for cheap off ebay), then connected that to your TV, you can use it.

With no viewing card, you'll get BBC 1 2 3 and 4, ITV channels, Film Four, Sky News, CBBC, Cbeebies and a bunch of other things.

If you pay about £20 to Sky, they'll give you a viewing card that will also let you at Channels Four and Five, Five Us, Five Life, Sky Three, music, kids and more shopping channels than you could ever watch. (freesatfromsky.com/ --- says £150 but that's including a box, dish and installation).

Hope that's helpful to you.

ps.. oh and be aware you'd have to readjust the dish every time you parked! (or park facing the satellite!!)

err no. Sure you can get cloned cards but no reason why a motorised setup cannot be totally legit.

how much are we talking here, for those two pieces of kit?

This isn't referring to " cloned cards ", I am well aware that a motorised dish system can be " legit ".

My point was; why refer to something that is illegal on here and place the site owners at risk?

Links have been posted to sites that will give you more information.

This thread is about a fixed dish at Lidl's, or it was originally.

I agree with previous posts that you need a larger dish to go motorized. 80cm minimum. Here's another good link if football is really all what you're after... telefootball.com

However, this is a good bargain if you need a new dish to replace your sky one ( a larger one would give you a slightly better signal, and better rain resiliance), or, you need one for a caravan/lorry.

Can this be used with my old sky box with a viewing card to get non subscription chanels?

whilst i would agree that a bigger dish is better, you can get most of the main sats off a sky mini dish so a 80cm will be fine. I even had a sky mini dish set up for 30w (central england) so you should get the main sats fine with this.

I would get personaly get a sl35s clone. very cheap and very well supported

It is possible, but very limited, a Sky Box is really designed for just Sky, you would be better off with a cheap free to air receiver.

Not sure which type of viewing card you mean?
