If you buy the standard definition package, you can add the installation at £79.99. That is a very good price (two years ago to adjust my dish the local company charged me £40 for a 5 minutes job!) and I believe you can ask to set it at your request (to receive British channels on Astra or European channels on Hotbird if you prefer).

They also have HD Satellite Kit with USB Recording Facility for £159.99 + installation if needed.

I suppose you could also combine different kits (for example the one with motorised dish to get the most of the channels).

Although this is a good deal for people who really can't install their own equipment, I would strongly recommend that people have a go at installing their equipment themselves. Last year a local company quoted me £60 to installl a Sky minidish, - I thought this was excessive for a 15 minute job, and had a go myself - everything went smoothly and I've had no problems since.

I agree, installing dishes is a doddle and needs no special knowledge or technical equipment. However, some people will have trouble accessing a decent location to place a dish and in that case they might need help from someone with the right ladders and safety kit.

Anyone clambering around on their roof or up ladders, please take care.

This is the standard price for fitting a Freesat dish ( with a single LNB)..
Argos is fractionally cheaper at £78.29.

You can get a sat meter/finder for about a tenner!

If you're just after a SD Receiver, then alot cheaper purchasing the Sky Pay Once Watch Forever Package.

Includes SD Receiver, Dish with Installation and 4 Months of 4 Sky packages for only £75 (at the most!, shop around can find cheaper), after 4 months you can cancel with no tie in to a 12 month minimum contract.

You could even treat yourself to a FreesatHD receiver at a later date.

I am a DIY retard and I just bought a zone 2 dish and fixing kit off ebay for 40 quid. I checked on the internet to find the approximate horizontal aligment:

dishpointer.com/ (We're after Eurobird1, Astra2A,B,C and D).

I bought a 25 pound DVB-S card and used fastsatfinder.com/ (free 1hr trial) to nail the precise aligment (very small appature!). I then managed to wedge the dish between my bike and the wall and have been getting BBC-HD and about a 500 other channels I'll never watch for over a week.

(This is a temp solution, will mount to a pole eventually - rental house).

So be brave and try it yourself.

Put my own motorised dish up 2 weeks ago, as long as I found 1w all was fine

This is not about getting Sky, but having access to european channels, which there are many.

do these dishes pick up the premiership football from the foriegn channels?

You're right about that although from looking at the above, most of them are cra*p or are of a dubious nature only viewed by people for the purposes of facilitating a hand shandy.

I'll pass thanks:p

Or you can just point the thing in generally the right direction until you get a picture.

Surely getting Sky is … Surely getting Sky is easier?:?http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/330025/sky-plus-free-box-installation-deal/

I hate sky.

You know this site is called HOTdeals right?

It's a good deal for those who can't put it up, AND needs specialist dish, like Hotbird or motorised.
Are there a cheaper alternative? Pay one watch forever is the only contender, but that's only one LNB and only Sky.

Voted hot:thumbsup:
