Okay so not many people I know who have a railcard know this so hopefully it helps a few fellow HUKD members.

If you have a railcard* you can also get 1/3 discount on OFF-PEAK travel within London on the underground, overground and DLR Network too!

PLUS the discount is attached to your maximum cap off peak fare also!

Valid railcards are:

16-25 Railcard
Senior Railcard
HM Forces Railcard
Disabled Persons Railcard (also offers discounted peak travel)
Network Railcard
Family & Friends Railcard
Two Together Railcard

You can also get the discount added to your Oystercard for the duration that your railcard lasts by going to a customer service desk and presenting both. This saves you having to carry your railcard also and makes it easier!!

If you live in London and regularly travel off peak Mon-Fri between 0930 and 1600 or after 1900, and all day weekends and bank holidays, buying a railcard will quickly save you money over a year!!

Yahoo... I've got one!!!! Guess what! I'm going down to London in March. Cheers, have some heat.

Thanks, I have a rail network card.

Just had a quick check looks like you can only buy travel card with network rail card.

Thats only on weekends

Yeap you can still get forces discount with your MOD90 without the need for your forces railcard. Just show your army ID card and away you go.

Not come across anyone that's flashed a Mod90 to get discount on travel without railcard... only time I've gotten though is in PCS and that was someone just flagging me through. I added the railcard to the Oystercard so it's all official. Only £15 at the RAO Dept anyways for a year! Save that in train tickets and £1+ on eack single journey so paid for itself several times over this year already!

Are you sure about getting oyster discount with network rail card??

I have my railcard discount added to my oyster card only works for off peak travel, until the date the railcard runs out. Ch ck the hyperlink but from what I can tell the other types of railcard 1/3 off ones listed above can be added too from the TFL website.

can you add the discount if you use a bank card rather than an Oyster card?

Not sure. Best to check at a booth when passing by TfL undrground ticket office. There maybe problems: I think hey go off the Oyster card database but perhaps they added third party cards? Sorry not much help otherwise

Cheers, just stopped using my oyster as didn't want to carry two contactless cards. Might have to top it up again though now...
