And the moral is......Don't smoke in bed.... or it's a Whooooooooooosh oO

I am looking to buy a mattress but its like a mine field as people quickly post negative reviews about a) the price b) the quality.

I am just going to have to go an try one and if I dont get an absolute bargain then so be it!

Grab this one for this price, try it, and send it back if you don't like it. Nothing lost.

Mate, I know exactly how you feel! I'm on the lookout for a good mattress deal but, as you rightly say, this area seems to be a law unto itself... and that is coming from someone who likes to think I can usually sort the wheat from the chaff.

I went through this process about 5 years ago when sourcing a single mattress for my son. Ended up with a fantastic quality memory foam one at a good price from a reputable eBay seller. I do remember it being a difficult process, though, to get the balance of quality and value right.

To be honest, I am still not entirely sure just where the so called "sweet spot" of value and quality is in the mattress market. My best guess is that is around the £200 mark for a double right about now, but there are so many false rrps on these various sales that it is clouding things.

I think I may have missed the boat on the Sainsburys sales with the codes, as I was of the opinion that other online retailers on eBay/Amazon etc could maybe offer better quality mattresses at a similar price without the misleading initial rrp. I may have misjudged the good value in that Sainsburys sale, though. Especially with the codes, which have now expired.

Anyway, if there is anyone who can come on here who has a better knowledge of mattresses and point some of us definitively in a direction where the best bang for buck purchases are right now, I'm sure a lot of like minded shoppers would be grateful! Thanks!

Had placed order previously for these so called bargain mattress' and all went through ok, only to get an email today to say no stock.
