To test this out, i've just done a quote as I renewed my insurance last week with Chris Knott for £355. Even with the supposed 28% discount, Kwik Fit came out at £417 for the same level of cover.

Great - thanks for the feedback. As with most insurance it is best to shop around, hoping that kwik fit comes up trumps for some anyway

I had some very good priced quotes from them in the past. Don't forget quidco at 45£.

used them twice, got good cover for a good price and quidco payed each time

I'll give it a go but when companies say "up to 28%" we all know that 0% off is "up to 28%" off.

EDIT :: Got a quote for £500...best quote I had elsewhere is £300. It didn't tell me what discount it had applied.

Wouldn't touch Kwik Fit with a barge pole.

Have used kwik fit for the last couple of years and now have both cars with them, last time they were about £15 dearer but the free mot compensated for this.
Their insurance is underwritten by Fortis if i remember correctly which are a decent company. When i put the Wifes car on with them last time they beat the best quote i had, then i mentioned that i had my car with them so they knocked a little bit more off for having 2 policys, then got the mot again...and to cap it all off the lady on the phone reminded me that i would also get the £40 refer a friend cashback which i did so it was a great deal.
Mine is due again in september so will be looking, some sites dont offer the free mot anymore but it depends where you look.

What a waste of time!

Renewal price £568
Best price elsewhere £428
Kwikfit price £840!!!!!!!!

Found them competitive last year, even without quidco.
Insurance expired last week but was pestered before that for 5 weeks by repeated phone calls to renew. Checked them out [ grudgingly] day before renewal and they were the third dearest of 10 quotes.
