Save VAT on all Skoda Octavias - ends 31st December 2008

Just noticed on the Skoda forum that Skoda have dropped VAT on all Skoda Octavias:

SKODA GOES ONE BETTER THAN BROWN AND SCRAPS VAT ON CURRENT OCTAVIA

In a bold to move to treat its customers this Christmas, koda has scrapped VAT on the current Octavia.

Starting immediately and in place until 31 December only, all current Octavias, including the plush L&K, the 4x4 Scout and the sporty vRS, will be sold to customers VAT free.

The offer does not only apply to the vehicles list price but also covers the purchase of options and vehicle delivery charge, representing a total saving of up to £3,000 per car.

Robert Hazelwood, Brand Director at koda, comments: The Octavia is our best seller and its popularity is evident in the fact it has found nearly 140,000 happy homes in the UK.

As car buyers scour the market in search of great deals we are responding to their needs and covering the cost of VAT on any Octavia purchased in December.

The current Octavia has won a series of car industry top prizes for its driveability, flexibility, spaciousness and the great value it offers, so this is a rare opportunity to buy one of the best brand new hatchbacks on the market at a very attractive price.

The Octavia is a great and much under rated car and always does well in the usual surveys. I have a VRS which is awesome. This is a great deal and am tempted to ugrade!

Is this because the facelift model is around the corner?

Probably but who cares - its a facelift not a new model.

Voted cold.

It's not a very big discount really. It only equaits to 12-13%. I would expect to get at least 20-30% off the list price in the current climate.

Looks like a bit of a smoke screen to get you to think they are cutting 15% off, but as we all know the percentage is lower when taking the discount off (as apposed to putting the 15% VAT on).

times must be hard there are so many deals around on cars at the minute. keep haggling, they all work on commission and need sales to make targets. voted hot

Youre a hard guy to please Nickyboyz. I have been a Skoda owner for 6 years and have NEVER known them to advertise these levels discounts. This isnt Citroen or Peugeot.......

Can get 4k off a TFSI VRS at Broadspeed without breaking a sweat - cold.

and £4790 off the most expensive Octavia in the range the Estate 2.0 TDI PD L&K Auto

On big mass sold cheap brand rep cars like Vectras/Mondeos yes.

On a Volkswagen Group car, wishful thinking.

Although bearing in mind Octavia is essentially a Saloon Golf, the Golf mk5 being rated VERY highly.

But you have a point about todays climate and general large cars are depreciating very fast these days, I expect 20% after haggling should be possible.
