SAVE when you add Virgin Media VIVID 200 GAMER addition to your existing VIVID 200 package

I read about the new 'Gamer' VIVID 200mb package in which your latency (ping) is improved by a few milliseconds, as well as increasing your upload from the standard 12mb to 20mb.

I phoned up expecting this to cost me an extra fiver or so, but it actually knocked £2.50 off my bill per month! There is a special offer available to entice people to join it, although I haven't seen any advertisement for this.

I hope this helps someone, as I was pretty chuffed! And the change to your package does not extend your contract, and was effective on mine within 1 hour!

My old bill was £44.75 a month but is now £42.25 (broadband only).

200? We get 14... Service is over utilised, techs say there's nothing they can do... Support say there's no problem... VERMIN MEDIA is utter rubbish.
well my Vivid 200 has been Vivid 03 lately without any explanation and if they can reduce ping times further shouldn't they be doing it for everyone on the 200 package instead of charging for the privilege.
I get my 150mb day and night been with VM for so long now never had a problem. You might want to search this site for VM deals can get a lot better than this deal.
are there any experts that can give me a clue as to what is happening with my connection, ping is low, upload speed is what it should be but download speed dropping constantly to as low as 3mbps. Is it the router or VM cables?

Any input much appreciated.
Just checked mine with Speedtest, 200Mbps download, 12mbps upload and ping of 17ms.
Not everyone has a bad connection.
Will give them a ring tomorrow and see if I can get this deal with money knocked off.

It'll be Virgin traffic managing you. When the 3mbps happens, phone them and ask them to do a speed test and modem test as proof you're having issues. I've been given the excuse that work on the network is currently happening in my area hence why every evening without fail my 50mbps service drops to 3mbps. True or not, I don't know...
Prob for re singing up for 12months?
cracking package and would have it in a heartbeat unfortunately my line only supports 100meg and no cable so I'll stick with sky.hot on this post tho
Since they're closed I'll just sit here til 8am.

Thanks.

200 meg jeez I'm so envious just tested mine 40 download 20 up and 15 ping God I'm so inferior
anyone else had luck getting it for 2.50 or saving off their bill?
I just signed up for the 200
first day it worked fine
now it's at 20mbps max
I'll call them tomorrow to see wtf is wrong. Might have to cancel

Yeah thats well bad quite a drop.when I was without fibre with sky like cheapy was horrendous always on phone.then got 60 meg fibre never looked back getting 60 through the router and 40 over multiple devices over WiFi excellent stability.if you pay for 200 with virgin that's what you want simple
Gamer vivid is not traffic managed and if its is being then they are in breach of contract. As for 200mbps that is laughable as it will never improve online gaming anymore than 40 or 50mbps or poor servers and tramps hosting in the middle of nowhere ,Upload speeds are very important as is the vital ping speeds and best is sky for that from my experiences as i get 6ms regular and around 15ms with BT which always baffled me as BT host sky lines.
You're paying £42 just for broadband? You're being had! I'm paying £35 for XL TV, 200 broadband, basic landline and line rental.

Yeah, suits me though. The TV is garbage and I don't want a landline. I'm getting 220mb/s (20mb over my allocated bandwidth) even during peak times, and have only had one connectivity issue in the last 18 months that meant I was offline for an hour. Don't mind paying a bit more for that kind of service.

lol thats inferior? then im a peasent. my d/l speed varies from 80kbs - 1mb. sometimes literally 4kb/s. for some reason though the xbox one actually manages to get upto 4mbs sometimes. which even then is a pile of ****

Not sure I would get the same result at 6pm on Saturday but I pay £35 for Full House package so can't complain.

Arranged a new install of 100mb Vivid for my cousin, who's had Virgin before, and a couple of days before the install date they rang to say they wouldn't be able to do it. When asked when they would be coming, they said they wouldn't as the exchange is currently at it's max and won't be adding any new connections at present even though they still take orders for this area on the website. What a pile of ****

reboot the hub and you'll get maximum speed... For 5 mins... Then it will drop off... Always handy for techs doing installs to get the max speeds before heading out the door and leaving customers with crud... I've tried all the tricks and the 2 VM tecks that come here on a reg basis were honest and told me Southport is over utilised (still) and the reason for so many errors on the TV... Continual errors... Is because there's such a huge drain on the services from all of the companies... YET... we are paying for these top end services and are not only getting a small portion of what we're paying for, but that stops working too... Call VM and get told lies, fobbed off and zero refund... And this is despite the techs putting notes on our account saying it's all goosed and should be allowed to terminate early... Check out the VM forum/community... On there you'll find ex staff, current staff saying the system need an overhaul... Prices keep going up to 'maintain their quality of service' yet the services are getting worse... Nonstop buffering... No wonder they pulled that claim from their adverts... VERMIN MEDIA IS A SCAM.

You might have a point, I found it strange when they asked if I had a booster. I'm on 200 and purchased a gigabit ethernet adapter to get the speeds I'm paying for and it must have started ringing alarm bells that someone is getting the full 200+mbps

Probably because you're overpaying anyways, 200mb alone can be had for around £32-38/mo.

Edit: Looks right, you are now on a standard 200mb gamer package which is 42.25 anyways without any deals:
virginmedia.com/sho…tml

Pretty sure those out of contract will be able to haggle that down around 35.

I don't know if VM do checks but theres some decent discounts through Virgin Money (new customers):

i was a Virginia engineer for 5 years and always found ping high and unstable when cable was damaged, good chance it is your pc causing problems, try using someones laptop on a wired connection to your router to rule this out
You need Hub3 to get the 200 Gamer, which I've been on for a month now

I'm starting to agree with you
earlier today I got 120mbps on speedtest (out of 200 I'm paying for)
tonight: 12
I have until this coming Wednesday to cancel.
When I rang up, they told me my area in zone 1 was oversubscribed, and the fix wasn't going to be in place until Jan 2018 at earliest...

we were supposed to be sorted Feb this year, the VM reps are selling as fixed yet the techs say it's not and is nowhere near... I'd get out while you can.
You can claim credit for oversubscription issues, if its not fixed you're likely able to exit your contract too.

Existing customer for a good while. Been paying £38 / mth + the £196 up front for line rental saver for a landline we hardly use. (So £54 ish/mth) But they always bang on about you won't save more than a few quid if you get rid of one service out of the 3. On M+ TV (again lots of channels we don't use) 2 x Tivo's & 50mb BB. Originally i was offered a pathetic £4.50 to stay with the same & sign up for another 12 mths. Got fed up of seeing all these new customer deals etc so rang up and gave 30 days notice of cancellation. 2 days later get a call from retentions.
After a good chat, now upgraded to 200MB, a new V6, plus keep the 2nd Tivo. TV has gone from M+ to player. But we're fine with that. Still have the landline with free we calls. They're paying the line rental saver by way of a £196 credit. Monthly bill is now £23.50. 12 mth contract. More than happy. If you want a good deal then you have to cancel. We were actually offered 150mb at £18.50 / mth. But opted to pay the extra £5 for 200mb as they told us upload would be much better, we'll see. If we don't get any better than 150mb I’ll be asking to go back to £18.50 / mth. Either way happy with the deal.

You get out but what too? The other options aren't any better? I looked at BT infinity, you'll get the same complaints about their claimed speeds. Luckily i've now got a good deal. I will never pay the kind of bills I have paid in the past to VM. I should have done what I just have years ago.
checked speed this morning. 215mb DL, 12.2 UL. will be monitoring for a while.
