There's been a few fantastic Curry's deal with dedicated gfx cards. This isn't quite to those standards but I'll put it out there to see what others think. I'd welcome any "it's not as good as this" links.

decent
wouldve been better if ssd+normal 1tb hdd

Title needs editing to 960M.

Heat good deal

Not worth buying a 9XX GPU for this price. Not when you had an i7/1050 for £499 only 2 days ago!

Do you have a link for that, had a quick browse but didn't see it.

Not much point in advising people to buy a laptop that is no longer available.

Not available anymore, and not everyone wants these for the graphics, its very difficult to buy a laptop with a decent CPU, my wife is still using a Dell L502x with a i7 2630QM and a Nvidia GT540 because she cannot buy a laptop with comparable processing power and true quad core without buying a gaming laptop. she uses specialist design software and its very CPU intensive stuff.

The point is that deals pop up all the time. If you want a good deal, just keep your eyes peeled and act quickly. I had the £499 1050 machine in my online basket and was going through the Currys online payment stage whilst people on here were beginning to post that there were no more in stock. Good deals always go quickly.

Until something better comes up this is a good deal. either add a second hard drive if possible or attach external storage for other files.

flash drives are only ideal for operating system/applications so this should be adequate

Just looking for something to play the new FM on, would this suffice or would it be too much?

Unless you need a laptop now I would hold off as better deals are likely to appear on black Friday.

Having said that it's hot from me as I can't see any better buys today.

If I was looking for anything to last a good few years, I'd avoid the old 9XX graphics and pay a little more for something with a 10XX

That's about to change. The 8th generation processors in the "U" line are now true quad cores as well.

I am looking forward to what gaming cpu's gain. Hopefully, like graphics cards before them, they can close the gap between desktop and laptop performance.

Same one with 1tb is £100 more

Is it possible to add an extra hdd to that laptop?

What's new FM?

edit: If it's the new Football Manager, this laptop is a bit of an overkill. If you want a laptop with a decent gfx card but not as expensive how about this that's £100 cheaper? xsonly.com/col…420

I am pretty interested to see where AMD is going to go with its new Ryzen CPU's for laptops.

I've got one of them and it's still going strong - a handy backup machine these days. I've replaced the HD with a solid state one and it's now got 16gb RAM. It goes pretty well for an old machine. However these are XPS laptops - There are often current versions of the XPS range that make their way onto the Dell outlet site (where I got mine) with hefty processors and dedicated graphics

Probably the new Forza motorsport, which this should run at low-mid settings.

Yeah stuck an SSD in ours too it runs beautifully, never really needed to upgrade, Intel nerf the processors IMO they need competition

MSI as a company are crap. Anyone even considering buying an MSI product should do their homework beforehand

You were right, I did mean Football Manager. Will have a look at the one you suggested, thanks

That's a cracking price, the 960m indeed qualifies as a gaming GFX chipset in my opinion.

Don't buy this laptop! Terrible and cheap plastic. You need to clean it every time you use it, as fingerprints are very visible on it (my hands are clean, while I am using it). Believe me - you probably will be better off paying £50 extra for a laptop with similar specs made by Asus or other company using better materials. Also GTX960m is comparable to GTX950.
