Thing is there are tons of very poorly made enclosure out there. And plenty of them available from the far East on Ebay from the about £3-£4.

However, the reviews for this are good. And from the sound of it probably worth ~twice of the price of one of the poorly made ones from ebay - at least for those willing to pay a bit more for a known quality.

Scooby...These are for if you have a spare 2.5 inch hard drive. You just pop the drive into the enclose and close it then connect it to a USB port on your computer. Can make use of spare PS3/PS4 drives if you upgrade them to a larger size for example.

I purchased this from ebay a while back for a similar price. Just a different brand logo. Free postage if you don't have prime.

It really is well-made and reliable compared to the cheaper ones I've tried.

Bought one of these to house my wife' SSD after replacing her aged netbook with a cloud type laptop..Easiest job ever, click it open, insert SSD, click closed and plugged it into the HooToo. Job done in seconds, and no tiny screws to fiddle with. Even better, if I ever need to take data off a 2.5" HD it will be a simple job. Heat

It's an enclosure for an internal HDD.

ssd trim command supported?

Nope. It doesn't even support UASP, so no chance of TRIM working.

Very few enclosures truly support TRIM. It needs a few components:
*UASP support
*A controller / bridges in the enclosure that supports the TRIM command and can pass it over the SCSI command set
*An OS with UNMAP support (Windows 8+), along with support from the above controller

It's a pain right now.

So I place a mechanical hard drive taken from an enclosure that had previously only been equipped with USB 2.0, now my data would be accessed quicker via this USB 3.0 enclosure ?.
Edit - I have now read the the description and believe the USB 3.0 interface would enable faster data transfers... Interesting and useful..
Thanks O.P.

yeah. I'm trying to find trim supported enclosure for Crucial MX300 2TB. Purchased couple of USB 3.1 10Gbps enclosures and they all not support TRIM. Finally contacted StarTech support to request firmware update to enable TRIM and they asked me to return and buy different model (S251BPU313). so going to try that model.

Totally disagree. I bought this about a month ago and it is by far the best enclosure I have bought. Yes there are cheaper, but poorly made. I can highly recommend this.

At the risk of sounding stupid. What is TRIM?

Thanks
