Another reason for the work-shy to think twice about getting a job

No, you just saw it as an opportunity to victimize the unemployed for being in a position which none of us would like to be in.

Another reason for the work-shy to think twice about getting a job

This is the truth, unfortunately!
there is a very very thin possibility of a homeowner in work getting anything like this, its geared towards benefits much much more, bit of a waste of time for me but definately worth a punt.
Don't be fooled. This is mostly a scam. Almost nobody will get a free boiler here. Their quotes are massively inflated and even after the grant is deducted, work out far more expensive than a regular install through a trusted local company.

That's my experience after spending a lot of time applying through various schemes for my elderly father. The work was eventually done cheapest by a local firm with no grant applied.
It is a scam. I have tried many different combinations and all leads to a generous loan invitation
That site is very misleading until you actually run through the questions. The scheme was tightened up considerably some time ago. Just tried a dummy application for someone on Unversal Credit + PIP, no other income, and whose house has an ancient back boiler. Result? Don’t qualify.

The position this is aimed at is those who have nothing wrong with them, claim benefits, spend the benefits on luxuries, smoking, drinking and then complain they have no money and are depressed/make up other medical conditions to get more benefits.

It's time the government shut down these "Work shy" chavs (men and women) and did something to think twice about dossing about.

You don't think it irks people who have to work for a living, don't get any benefits, have to pay bills/council tax and new boilers out of their own pocket, while these work-shy ******** sit on their lazy backside doing nothing and get more in benefits, council tax paid for, discounts on energy bills, free boilers and all manner of other freebies.... Wake up Daz, the victim card won't work here.

Until the government makes changes across the full breadth of all benefits and presents these lazy work-shy people with a simple maths sum showing them how much worse off they will be than working, the chavs will continue to in-breed, get all manner of benefits and continue this cycle.

The government should grow a pair, instead of bowing down to the "human rights" lawyers whenever a benefit change is mooted

You do know in most cases it's the landlord benefiting from a free boiler not the tenant right?

We've had three of the boilers in our rentals done like this apparently.

Missus handles managing those, but trust me - it's us landlords who make the money here not the poor kids we rent to.

no, it's the installer who's made the money. You've had a boiler installed for almost certainly more than it would have cost had you shopped around. Your tenant also gets a cheaper gas bill.

The amount of work it takes to dodge work and get benefits and all these goverment incentives and still stay out of work is a skill and not one to be underestimated.

You're the first person I've heard of who got one, leave alone three for free, and I work in the industry. Read this and it all becomes clearer how it works.

Anyone answer the following questions:

1) How long did it take for the tcb/quidco to pay out the cashback on Beagle Street?
2) Anyone had issues cancelling the policy further down the line, or just ring them and cancel?
Unemployed can afford this!.... just cut back to an iphone 6 instead of a 10... or drop the sky package down...

Haven't personally got anything mate.

Over the past decade or so three of our properties have been fitted for boilers by tenants receiving some benefit (I think most were elderly).

The grant or benefit or whatever it is went to them not us. We just had to okay the boilers being replaced. Tenants are long gone. We've still got the boilers...

Ever lived on benefits? I have, it was beyond crap. Not knowing if you can afford to eat next week because the water bill is due sucks donkey balls, if you think it's that great give up your job and live the life of riley but I tried it briefly and took the first minimum wage job I could to get out.

You've got three boilers.

The tenants will have been persuaded to part with money under the premise of hugely reduced heating bills. Elderly private tenants are actually targeted for this reason

Hmmm.

Doesn't sound right. I know one tenant got a free boiler from a company that didn't even supply their gas.

Boiler was ancient and apparently the energy company could use the carbon saving from replacing the boiler to reduce their carbon footprint overall.

The older folks in our area were all offered this a while back. Not sure it's this scheme mind.
I can see where the daily mail gets it's readers some upset on here they can't have a freebie mmmmmm must be taxing

Bottom line is, I am right and you got firmly put in your place, just deal with it.
