Remember you`ll need to have made 20 "usefull" (a.k.a. pointless posts*) before you qaulify to get the free delivery

*Telling the Scan guys on Hexus they are great, well endowed, the light of your life all still count if memory serves.;-)

Strange that they had two different eligible price points for different forums!

:w00t::w00t::w00t:

I actually DIDN'T order 2 hard drives the other day, as it only reached 74.98 and didn't qualify for free delivery. Gonna guess there has been a lot of similar cases and this is why they've changed it back.

I love scan, but to be honest the main reason I do order with them is because of the free postage (next day), without that, I'd probably goto ebuyer or wherever is cheapest.

Nice, I was a member of AVForums anyway and I didn't know of this offer, so thanks for the heads up.

I can see myself using Scan quite a bit in future as carriage is usually the deal-breaker when buying tech stuff.

dont like scan so cold

but thanks for the post

Am naturally curious person so care to explain?

is it due to a defective item return problem?

Also don't like Scan but voted hot BECAUSE IT'S A GOOD DEAL

finally they realized that the free delivery is a big selling point. Hot

So good! I just don't understand why they incrised to 75 b4?

Excellent I was just about to order a new PSU last night from ebuyer but I hate paying for delivery so was making it up to £50 just to get free delivery (haha I always do that, end up spending way more than I need to)

Will be looking at PSU's on scan now

I got suspended from Hexus for posting 20 posts within 24hrs, they class it as spamming, even though I was added constructive posts

I've been a member for a while but don't really use Scan. That said how do you connect your AVForums account to your Scan account?

Whilst logged in on the Avforums click on the link to Scan (there is a free delivery link or there is a thread with the link)

Got my 20+ on AVForums & I do use Scan so voted hot by me :-D

the initial free delivery for avforum members never worked for me even i had 20+posts! that was a few months ago, not sure about now!

I get all my PC stuff from Scan and have never had any problems with them.

the items are always well packaged, and have always turned at my door the next day.

I too, prefer ebuyer over Scan, evven with the free delivery.

Scan, bought one motherboard, arrived faulty, returned it, got a second hand damaged one, returned it again and got another second hand faulty one. Now got another one that is yet to be tested. And despite numerous e-mails, no refund of the return postage costs either.

ebuyer, no issues at all, apart from a tv stand that was smaller than described, ebuyer sent a courier to collect it and refunded with no problems.

I order at least once a month from scan and the free delivery is a big factor.

I bought from before I knew about the avforums discount and just felt ripped off when I found out.

I never liked that you had to make a certain number of posts on certain forums to get the free delivery. If I have nothing useful to add to a discussion then I don't feel the need to post just to get my post count up just so I can get free delivery. For that reason I've always felt that anybody who pays for delivery from SCAN whilst others are getting it free are knowingly/unknowingly being ripped off.

Any company who unequally charges some customers so consistently will not get my custom (again).

I'll second that, its good to know that as a thank you for spending your cash with them they give the same delivery for free to some forum kiddy talking about how big his daddies Plasma is.

SCAN did this to me 3 years ago too.
Wanted the 2.6ghz Pentium D that you could easily overclock because of how it was designed to 3.6ghz+ but they sent me the 2.8 ghz model as the other one was out of stock... but the 2.8 could be overclocked quite like the 2.6:x

But yeah they wouldn't change it for love nor money... I use ebuyer now...

i've also used their free delivery in the past, but i really hate city-link, they stick everything inside their own grey/yellow sealed bags, so you can't visually inspect the item before signing for it, and they do have a habit of damaging things.... plastic bags dont show crush damage very well.

I've also switched to ebuyer for a number of items due to the increased threshold for free postage !... theeir loss

well damn, I only just purchased a psu from them as well.

with the i7 event it used to be £20+VAT, then a year ish ago it went upto £25+VAT. Wonder if it has gone back down too?

This is handy as I often use Scan (as well as ebuyer might I add) for components. I've heard that Scan can be a pain in the **** when it comes to RMA'ing some stuff but it can be worth buying certain products from them (Corsair PSU's for example). They offer a direct replacement service, so you don't have to send your faulty unit back to the Netherlands at your own cost.

I ordered from Scan for the first time last Friday, have been highly impressed by their customer service. So much so that I placed 3 more orders with them in the space of a week!

The only component I haven't ordered from them for my first build was the case, they had no stock and it was cheaper at SVP anyway.

However I am not pleased with the chosen courier (City-Link), I was jumping through hoops to get my items. They completely ignored Scan's request to deliver to an alternative address and somebody I'd never heard of signed for my delivery. Thankfully everything was well packaged and delivered in good condition.

All of my orders have been over the £75 figure, but the new £20 requirement is fantastic as it means I will be making a couple more orders for items such as a heatsink in the very near future.

I am an AV forum member with 20+ posts, but I cannot get the discount to apply to my basket at Scan. I have followed the (limited) instructions on AV Forums, but delivery is still added as £6.99

Like a greedy MP, they p***ed a lot of people off.

I only posted to-day on AVForums that there was no benefit from being a member to get free delivering when you have to spend £75+ especially when you get can free delivery from Ebuyer for spending £45, free at Play or £5 at Amazon.

I think it didn't do their rep. any good.

I had the same problem. Click recalculate basket and the delivery should be removed
Had to do that with my first few orders but now it seems to be removed by default.

Remember to remove Scansure before confirming order as that adds a few quid to the total price.

I prefer ebuyer, even their 5 day delivery usually arrives within a day or 2.

I also prefer ebuyer website.

Used Scan many times, no problems, used ebuyer and had a few, but thats just your luck. I'll still happily use either. Free delivery via Hexus or AVF makes Scan a good choice. I've been a 'proper' member of the Hexus forums for a few years and the AVF forums for a few months. If people 'spam' for 20 posts to get the benefit then they'll end up changing the criteria again.
