The Scarpa Manta Pro GTX is a revitalised and modernised version of the stalwart Scarpa classic, and is lighter, more durable and still an all-round B2 boot.

Built to perform and last in the British hills but still maintaining its alpine credentials, the Manta Pro GTX has been designed to cover the same bases as its well-loved sibling. Scarpa have applied a more modern slant to the overall design and aesthetics of this latest mountaineering boot to carry the Manta name and like the other similarly modern styled mountain boots in this series, the Manta Pro GTX features the more precise fitting FT last, rather than the more traditional, higher volume DL last seen in the original Manta.

The upper portion of the Manta Pro now sits on a Pentax Precision XT Vibram unit, which features both 'Activ Impact Technology', a climbing zone in the toe area and a more aggressive tread pattern. Impact protection and heel strike comfort have been massively improved by the use of a TPU crampon plate, which sits on top of a durable PU shock absorbing insert, plus another insert under the fore foot. The flex characteristics are more progressive, than in its fore bearer, with the addition of the Pro-Fibre XT 20 mid-sole, proving more comfort over longer distances. Other points of difference come by way of a pulley utilising speed-lacing system, a part L-tech (synthetic) part leather upper, for increased durability and weight saving, and an overall lighter construction.

Unfortunately this is the case with the ‘more money than sense’ majority. Great pair of boots for the right purpose and if I had any serious trips planned I’d jump at these.

Almost makes me want to plan something...

These are reduced because Scarpa are about to launch the new version which is much lighter. These are HEAVY and very stiff! Certainly not dog walking boots. A couple of years ago, I was between these and the SL Activ. Went for the SL and glad I did.
If you’re going to be doing serious winter mountaineering that requires crampons, these are great. For 10 miles around your local beauty spot, not so great

I had looked at the SL Activ and it looks like a great boot. I was shopping around for a pair but can't find any for a decent price They have been on sale for £125/£150 but OOS everywhere. If anyone finds a pair please let me know!

Totally agree, these boots are for winter hiking or mountaineering and would not recommend them for hill walking/dog walking. There are other boots on offer that would be better suited. That being said, the Rock + Run website does say B0 to B2 use for these boots.

I’ve had my SL Activ for a few years now and they’re fantastic. Well worth the money. I use them mainly for Peak District/Lake District walking and Mountain Rescue call outs. My previous SL M3’s which these replaced lasted me about 8 years and did a few thousand tough miles. I don’t think I’ll ever sway from Scarpa for my boots.

I’m well aware that it was a joke. The only person you’re making a fool of is yourself.
Hi All, GO Outdoors have price matched/beaten this price by 10% upon emailing them. This makes them £148.45 if you have the discount card! My order with Rock and Run has already been dispatched though

Bit touchy, aren't we Sherpa?
Very good price, would totally bite if I didn't already buy some mammut boots not only a few months ago. And they are only b3 rated!

I found it funny, and I personally don’t think they made a fool of themselves.

But you definitely come across as way to cranky

No 49 in stock
I've been after a pair of Scarpa Mescalito Mid's on a deal for ages now and the £99 price on their site is excellent. Jumped on there only to find that 43 is OOS though.

The highs and lows of a morning on HUKD can break a man.

Would these be ok for standing in the 5 mile queue outside IKEA?
Hoping to head to the Alps when things are better and heard good things about these boots so may purchase a pair.

I do not understand these people...they HAVE to queue for a few bits of flat pack that can't wait eh! Not exactly essentials...
They are not only good for walking the dog, to really get your money's worth you need to also get B2 crampons, then they can also be used to aerate the lawn.
I have a pair of jack wolfskin boots and they are really decent for the price. I do hiking in all 4 seasons and they have held up well.

Just putting it out there for anyone working with a smaller budget

I use mine for riding my motorbike
Personal opinion of course but I'd say if you don't occasionaly find the need to use crampons then these are most likely OTT for what you want.
Big fan of scarpa, take an age to wear in but they are amazing for long distance once they do
Just a note.... people who go walking with trainers and sandals (no socks) in the sticks risk picking up ticks!

These look like proper rigid mountaineering boots, rather than something just for winter hiking?

Chrishall Common appears to be the biggest mountain at 147m. Make sure you take some crampons and enough rations with you if you try and attempt this in the winter. I know someone who got stranded near the summit for nearly 3 weeks in some persistent drizzle a few years back
If you have a Go Outdoors discount card they will also price match + take 10% off meaning they're only £148.45!!! Making an already cracking deal unbelievable for some very very good winter boots 😁

Yep, for the people who have never worn mountain boots before, they soles are very stiff. They're made for scambling and being able to take a crampon. They're not for padding around your local park. They don't flex like other boots, if they did they crampon could come off.

I already have a pair of Mammut mountain boots that I use in the winter. If I didn't, I'd jump at these for the price. Although it is always worthwhile going to a shop and getting some advice. Not every boot will fit the shape of your feet,
