I would normally replace like for like on a bike so I would not advise due to clearance . The 700 x 28 is the size you go by I hope this helps .

Seeing as you have got continental already on I can highly recommend Continental Grand prix 4 season which I have on my road bike failing this Gatorskins I presume you are after puncture resistance . I am six feet two and fourteen stone plus so need a puncture resistant tyre . Have a look on road c.c for reviews I hope I've helped
Excellent tyres done 200 miles on mine already. Nice and grippy whatever the weather.

These are much wider at 40 vs 28mm. May fit, may not for that reason but what kind of bike and what are you using it for? If it's a road ('racing') bike then these are certainly too wide; if it's a hybrid which someone has put narrow tyres on you may get away with it.

If you have a decent bike shop locally I'm sure they'd be happy to advise.

If unsure and you're happy with what you've got, go for the same or similar.

Excellent tyres.

I have a first gen Marathon Supreme (26x1.5) on my hybrid which I've done approx 6200 miles on so far communing to work and despite having some huge holes in the tread from glass/road debris it's only suffered one puncture.

My partners hybrid has 2 second gen Supremes fitted (700x35) which have done about 4500 miles so far with no punctures at all.

So in a combined nearly 11k miles there has only been one puncture, plus they roll great, are quiet, light and provide plenty of grip. For contrast our previous tyres which did have kevlar puncture protection belts were still suffering punctures once every 2-3k miles or so. Personally I don't think you can go too far wrong with a set of these!
Never heard of 'folding' tyres

Looking at images online there does seem to be some leeway for a larger tyre, although it awards to come with 28s originally and is more a flat bar road bike than standard hybrid. However, if these here are 40mm, that may be too much. If you need new tyres, you could try these at 32mm:

Are you sure these are 40mm? In the description it says they're 32mm....

Looks like it came with 700x28c, same as now fitted. If there's room for these 700x40c tyres (needs checking) they would probably give a comfier ride at the expense of speed/effort. I'd say they are too wide for the type of bike if you want to use it as intended (fast commuting/leisure riding). Best to stick to that size or, if wider, certainly not as wide as 40mm. There are plenty of cheaper tyres around in most sizes; these are well priced but not amazing.

As the OP didn't state, I was just following the thread where Besford stated it. I can see it states both, confusingly!

40mm won't fit many bikes.
Good tyres though. I have the 35mm version and cannot fault them other than they pick up a lot of water off the road when cycling over wet. A lot more compared to completely slick tyres. So you'll probably want to use mudguards with them.
Great grip, durability and puncture resistance considering how light they are.
Also note the weight given is probably for a slimmer version.

Only just became aware of this sorry .Just looked at it myself and I'm confused . For anyone who has ordered check what it's described as on email confirmation and anyone thinking of ordering phone planet x . I merely posted what I thought was a good deal and have no affiliation to planet x .

The discrepancy is not your fault, but you didn't state any size at all.

Sorry I didnt realise I hadn't posted a size . I am consciously trying to look for more deals as I don't just want to sit on the sidelines benefiting from deals and not trying to help others , so I am trying to get more involved. I am fairly new to posting deals so didn't notice the website had contradicting information .

Please feel free to pick and choose what you want but as an experienced rider I would not get those they offer very puncture protection . Get some continental Gatorskins, Grand prix four seasons etc

Or please read this
