Schwartz Rubberwood Spice Rack with 24 filled spice jars for £9.99 @ LIDL

Found 9th Jan 2012
Just come back from Lidl at Langley Mill, Nottingham and they had Schwartz rubberwood spice racks with 24 filled jars of spices.

This is a good deal as Schwartz spice jars usually sell for between £1 and £2 per jar.

Got the image from an internet website where somebody is trying to sell one of these for £42 but it's exactly the same. To run through the jars, I got;

Herbs de Provence, Rosemary, Ground Nutmeg, Mild Chilli Powder, Cayenne Chilli Pepper x2, Parsley, Oregano, Chives, Ground Cinnamon, Mixed Herbs, Medium Curry Powder, Basil, Thyme, Mint, Mixed Herbs, Marjoram, Ground Coriander, Italian Herb, Turmeric, Ground Cumin, Paprika, Sage and Ground Ginger.

Don't know if this is national as these types of shops usually have different products stocked at different times, but there was definately five left after I'd picked one up at close of time.

Don't usually shop at Lidl, but a friend told me they had some laminate flooring that wasn't there.

Sorry, I have just posted this but accidently misnamed the store.

i am so there!!! thank you!

Hot Hot Hot, Brilliant find

Good price - if you take each spice to cost at least £1 each, then 24 for £10 is great. I live no where near a LIDL though

Dam im at my lidl tomorrow morning this is a great deal.

hot

Hope I can find it, but not holding out much help, heat given

good price usually buy aldi or lidl own brand herbs just as good as the above but a hell of a lot cheaper than Schwartz and maybe 6 of those wont use
eg, curry powder buy in large bags,, along with tumeric, chilli, mixed herbs, and refill the bottles

Great price! Will have a look locally tomorrow

Good price what what it is, but could any other single item transport your kitchen back to 1992 quite as quickly?

That made me laugh, I bet that the ones still up since 1992 still have the original spices in them too

None in waltham cross branch SA said they have never had any, msy be store specific i guess hot if u can find it.

None in the melksham branch, so guessing none in Wiltshire full stop.

None in Johnstone-Scotland store either

None in any of the dundee stores

Made me smile too, many people with unused spice jars with best before dates ranging from the early to mid 90's. Not forgetting a partially used jar of Basil once used when they fancied getting "a bit" posh with a can of tomato soup.

Of course us proper cooks use whole spices rather than ground ones as they keep their flavour. Ground spices tend to go very bland after only a few weeks.

That said, if you have any intention of cooking and eating decent food rather than living off ready meals, a large spice rack is a kitchen essentuial, so a hot deal.

you are obviously a young 'un! I remember me and a friend trying to smoke our way through his brothers spice rack (like this one) out of desperation during a dope drought in 1979!

ps. it was disgusting and made us vomit. Ahh...them were the days!

In store now (Langley Mill) and can't find any!

Anyone know of anywhere in stock inNotts/Derby?
