One for all the gin drinkers out there!

This is the first time smaller bottles from the new premium range of mixers by Schweppes have been available to the general public because they've been pub/restaurant trade exclusive up until now as far as I'm aware.

I know Schweppes have lost bundles of the market to more trendy 'up market' brands in recent times, us included because we only buy Fever Tree, Fentimans or Double Dutch ourselves, but the 1783 range was launched last year as a direct response to those others I've just mentioned.

On Amazon these are coming in at £15.97 + £6.99 postage, even when compared to the prices of standard Schweppes and Britvic etc elsewhere this is incredibly cheap thus I'm not sure if it's a miss-price or just an introductory offer but we just ordered 6 crates regardless.

And don't forget Jamie Oliver's sugar tax whacks on about a 10% price hike on most soft drinks at the end of the week, seeing this isn't a 'light' Tonic I'm assuming it's one that will be affected.

Out of stock, can’t order

Not for me it's not, because I've just checked if I could order another 10 crates and I've gone all the way through to stage 6 summary place order, perhaps your local hub is out of stock?

Peterborough is our one and they clearly still have stock.

I think if they want to win back some market share from Fever Tree et al, then they need to seriously discount the 600ml bottles which are currently £1.79 Waitrose ... then I might be tempted to try, but I'm not going to risk buying 24 small bottles

What, you don't like to stay stocked up for yourselves and for when you are entertaining?

You very welcome so if you round Lincoln some time drop me a DM and to be fair that cucumber 1783 is proper nice.

These work out 31 pence a bottle and if Ocado do deliver these tomorrow night they'll have worked out about 25 pence a bottle with the tenner discount code off a 60 quid spend I had handy.

The way we been going through gin in recent months I'd say we get through at least a half litre bottle of Fever-Tree/600ml 1783 or three 200ml bottles a day so no matter how much we buy it will get drunk rather quickly
Would be great if only Ocado delivered to Newcastle.

The six crates I got yesterday being delivered this evening and I've just ordered another eight for Friday although it was saying no stock tomorrow or Thursday so there definitely is stock coming: you just have to play about with the delivery dates

I really not got a clue what's going on there then I'm sorry mate, it's got to be down to the hub that serves your region I'd have thought.

I've noticed them ones that got delivered last night have August this year as the BBD which is fine but if the other eight coming on Friday are the same that's not okay.

We do have a substantial gin problem in the household but not to such a point where we'll go through 320 odd bottles of the same vanilla Tonic in four months with the scores of other varieties and flavours we already got. I might give 'em a bell and see if there's any way they can tell me what the date will be in that second order

No Worries at all, i suspect your right in that its down to the local hub not having stock. I'm in two online monthly Gin Clubs and have amassed, as it appears you have, a huge amount of Gin and other spirits over the years. That's quite a short BBD for tonic water. Hopefully the second batch will have a longer date.

Yeah we in the craft gin club and we get 25% discount on a lot of gins through work too so there's quite a few drinks. Bought a bottle of that Pink Pepper the other week which alas was full price, may well crack that open tonight.

I've cancelled the order for them other Tonics, well edited it for regular groceries instead. We got so much in we'll be good all Summer and maybe even Autumn too.
