Sounds like a good deal..
Will this "Suffer" from the emissions scandal? I..e will it have to be "modified" to fix the emissions? If so, it might affect the running costs

Do you get to keep the car?

Jokes. Looks like a good deal for a lot of car, for those that aren't badge snobs.

I may be totally wrong but does the 2 litre diesel cheat software only relate to when the car is having its emissions tested? I thought the cheat software is totally inactive during normal driving thus nothing will change during normal use? Given the dishonesty, you'd hope for an even better deal than this! It is plenty of car for the cash tho...

VAG have said that current models with Euro 6 compliant engines (like the Octavia) are not affected.

Good deal, only no built-in sat nav as standard would dampen it for me. I don't see the point of paying for options on a two year lease. You could try to find a vehicle with Smartlink, but this deal is for in-stock only, so good luck with that!

wouldn't that be the problem though. the cars during normal driving are pumping out illegal emisions levels. the cheat software is there to disguise this fact during emissions tests.

Yes totally agree, but I dont see how you can 'fix' an engine that is designed to pump out illegal emissions during normal use and maintain performance (which VW says will not be impacted by the 'fix'). Seems like a moot point for this deal as its a Euro6 compliant engine so I'll shut up now...

VAG diesel.

Can I confirm this comes with the free defeat device included?

It's a good deal I suppose but who buys a car like that and only drive 8k/year. It's basically barely enough for a school run. I do 10k just commuting.

That is very subjective, some people only use 8K-10K P/A, some 30K P/A = Different needs from a vehicle.

Every time a deal like this is posted someones says this. Excess mileage is usually 7.2p per mile Inc vat.

Ie - if you end up going 5k over then it's an extra 360 .Per year...30 a month. Almost always cheaper to take the lower mileage deals and pay the excess mileage. Now you can go and tell all the others...and you won't ever have to ask this question again.

You're welcome.

Yep Octavia III is not affected - I lease the same car had it about 7 months now.

its really nice to drive, practical to not much not to like tbh.

Thank you for sharing. I'm currently looking at Passat estates and the Tiguan - this fits the bill quite nicely. I'll get a test drive booked first to see what it's like.

They arnt pumping out anything illegal in Europe, the test for nitros oxide only effect cars in the USA. They couldn't really put the software on USA cars and not European cars as this would've been picked up on extremely quickly.

Of course not.

That's why they are planning to recalll 1.2million cars in the UK alone, and many more millions throughout the whole of Europe, and some of those cars will require hardware changes (injectors)

Our Skoda Octavia, though not an estate, rarely does more than 8K a year, even with 2 children, but then if they weren't home educated, they'd have to cycle to school anyway. Though, being a Skoda, it cost barely more than one year lease for this car, it was 2 years old when purchased and so far, has cost less than £2k in servicing in 5 years, makes leasing one seem rather pointless, especially as where's the cachet in buying a new Skoda, if you're not a badge snob, why be a brand new car snob?
