Any good for blokes?

Other than size, women usually have longer leg length and a shorter torso than a man of similar height, so many manufacturers alter bike geometry to reflect this (some leave them the same and just paint them a pastel colour!).
For a man I have unusually long legs and a short torso (and my wife is the opposite!) so in theory a woman's bike might fit me better. But I'm 6'1" and most manufacturers don't make women's bikes that big (Scott's website says I'm "out of size" if I tell it I'm a woman).

You can put your measurements into Scott's website and see what they reckon, just click on "find your size". If you're interested in this bike tell it you identify as a woman.

6061 alu, hydro disc brakes, even a Richey headset. And all sizes available.

This is yards better than the battery-farmed pig iron Halfords churns out for similar money. Hot all day every day.

Common myth about proportions, most brands now just sell the same bikes with a different colour, saddle, and bars. Trek are now moving away from women specific bikes and just putting wider saddles and more colour choices on unisex bikes
This should be stupidly hot .
Looks more of a unisex.
Think the deal has come at a perfect time as daughter was after a bike

Halfords bike is a hybrid, this is a hardtail mountain bike. Huge difference especially if going on trails etc then mountain bike wins hands down. If riding on the road, dedicated cycle paths etc or commuting then the hybrid would be good but anything more demanding and you're better off with the hardtail.

Do you think there would be much of a noticable difference between the weight?
I really like the look of the bike from this post.

Not really, plus the Scott is quality compared to the Carrera. You'll enjoy the Scott a lot more.

Dammit. Large is OOS. Would medium be ok for a 13 year old, fairly tall girl?

Depends on how tall, fairly tall is. They have a sizing guide on the page and medium is for people about 170cm-180cm according to that.
