Speed: Up to 76Mb
Download limit: Unlimited
Traffic shaping? Yes, at peak times
Contract length: 18 months
Deal requires line rental? Yes

New line installation: Free

Until Mon 14 Nov, existing customers only can get SSE's Ultrafast Fibre Broadband + Talk Anytime* package with unlimited superfast downloads up to 76Mb, line rental and inclusive anytime calls, on a 18-month contract.

The deal's available to 83% of the UK (you're told when applying whether you can get it). Here's how it works...

Sign up now. Go via SSE, select your region then choose the Ultrafast Fibre Broadband + Talk Anytime package.
Pay line rental monthly. You have to pay £16/mth for line rental as there's no upfront option.
Fibre broadband's 'free' during the 18-month contract. This'll jump up to £25 after 18 months so diarise to switch at this time. You'll also get sent a free router with no delivery costs.
Anytime calls £5/mth. You have to pay £5/mth for anytime calls to UK landlines as part of your package, even if you don't make phone calls.
If you add up the cost of the line rental and anytime calls over 18 months it's £378, equivalent to £21/mth.

- Need more calls? Calls to UK landlines are included, mobiles cost more. Full info on call charges below.

- No line/switching from cable? Installation's free.

Also says tcb is up to £143 but as cashback is not guaranteed then its not included in the price!

This is slightly cheaper than BT but The BT one does have sports as well

No pay up front either like talk talk or BT

New T&C now apply - existing SSE energy customers only:

"18 months free fibre broadband is only available to existing SSE Energy customers (customers who have an existing energy contract with us)."

whats the make model of router

Not sure to be honest but it has to work with fibre the 38 mb product is the same price! Is there any £50 fibre installation fee? Think this is waived too

whats the make model of router

Its a Technicolor tg589vac!

Switched over last week to the Ultrafast product and the Topcashback had tracked within an hour of the order being placed thus making it £13.40 a month for 18 months.
The Technicolor TG589vac router is almost devoid of any information in the box or on the internet.

Not a good enough reputation to make me interested, looks good on paper but way to many negative reviews and 18 months is a long time to be with.

don't forget the £130 odd cashback
that's a pretty big ommission isn't it ?

Duplicate thread

I think HUKD protocol suggests that a deal may be reposted after 1 month as has been done in this case

I have been with SSE phone and broadband for nearly a year now , and I must say it is an excellent service . No problem with the cashback coming through from TCB ( in fact it came through twice (_;) ).
Recommended .

The only hiccup we had was receiving a letter a week before change over that a technician would be calling on the morning of changeover.
We already had fibre so I was a bit perplexed but I thought SSE are new to the table and might be wanting to ensure the switch goes smoothly.
The day came and no show for engineer so I just recabled myself as I would have done anyway.

I am currently with plusnet and ditched their technicolor router. I use my own server and pfsense instead connected directly to the BT fibre modem. anyone currently on sse do you get provided your sse ppoe username and password?

Please note you will get billed quarterly.

I am with Sky currently and unable to check the availability. Any solutions from anybody please.

Have signed up via Quidco for an extra £130 cash back. The inclusive calls are good for us as I call my mum on her landline in the daytime and my wife calls her mum in Holland all included.

This looks too good to be true, I'm currently with PlusNet and they have upped their fee to £38 which is robbery so I'm looking to get out. They do provide a good service and I always get a 72MB line when I check to be fair. Would appreciate people who already have a connection to comment as this would save a lot of money if they provided a reliable connection.

Don't do it, read the other thread, throttles heavily

I would advise people to read the previous thread before making their decision, some helpful comments.

hotukdeals.com/dea…394

Hope that helps

Cheap deal - pretty much unbeatable. Big potential problems, though, depending on who you listen to - see previous thread.

Tip - get an appropriate commitment from them in writing via the online chat facility before you sign up. Then you'll have something to use to get out of the 18 month contract if things go pear-shaped.

Good luck, my Ultrafast speed just now !

I have this too. I currently have fibre broadband with BT, and due to migrate to SSE tomorrow. SSE insisted an engineer visit us needed though.

On the inclusive calls, this is a big pricing strategy change to the rest on the market who seem to think it acceptable to charge 17p to connect a call.

Have just switched to these myself. customer services are very good so far in trying to sort out bt openreach who are a nightmare! all up and running now so very happy. speeds are great. The provided hub is wireless pretty basic but is dual band and coverage in my flat is better than the sky hub v.2 which, admittedly isn't saying much..

pretty much every broadband provided manages the load on their network. I don't imagine you'll notice with an 80Mbit connection. sky do the same and I never noticed the throttling at 30Mbit

Whats the speeds then? I have the free sky offer and they are not budging! Saying free broadband is all they can do so line rental will go to full price despite the fact the half price line rental and £50 bill credit is out!

So looking to leave. My old place i used to get 14mb sec so was fast enough but at my new house i only get 5.6mb! its constant and streams sky sports in hd ok but can be a little slow if more than one person using it

Let me know how it goes please?

Have you contacted them yet Deanos? You seem to be one of a small number reporting problems with SSE now. Most of the reports are positive.

Contact Plusnet and see if they will price match, that's what I did when my contract was up and a similar SSE deal came up. I'm paying the equivalent of £24.50 for 78/20 unlimited and phoneline currently, not as good as this but I'm happy sticking with Plusnet.

I get 70+mb consistently with a ping of around 9ms.
Not had any issues for the year that I've been with them, they said I could get an offer very similar to this if I signed up to another contract BTW if anyone else is with them and wanted to extend it for another year. Same as this deal unlimited calls etc.
No other company would say 'hey, fancy swapping to another awesome deal?'
They just leave you on their ripoff pricing for as long as they can get away with it for.

The T&Cs say you can only get cashback if switching from BT/Plusnet. Therefore the Website only works if you have one of those. You can still get the deal by phoning them up but you won't get any cashback.

I originally signed up for this deal but after reading comments about traffic management decided to cancel and go for the cheap Sky deal (£61/year). I'd rather have no traffic management on standard broadband than heavily traffic-managed fibre.

You have to call them - I'm with Sky and they block your details so other providers have to look at it for you, it doesn't work on the website.

side track - any one knows if Plusnet has any throttle on torrent, peak hours or any thing? would any one recommend it?

Yes, they throttle torrents, so it's best to do it overnight

ABORT ABORT!

Mick3yMous3 Have you tried changing the wireless channel to one that your neighbors don't use? Reboot the router and PC afterwards

does this deal include the line rental?

my cashback of 130 pounds is on hold on quidco from a month and meet all the cryteria wtf

"Traffic Shaping" - I like how they keep changing what they call it to try and confuse customers...
